A male company employee has been arrested for allegedly groping a woman on the JR Saikyo Line in Tokyo, police said Tuesday. Another man, who is also accused of groping the victim, managed to flee the station by jumping onto the railway tracks.

According to police, the incident occurred at around 7 a.m. on Monday, Fuji TV reported. Police said the male suspect, who is a Saitama resident in his 30s, is accused of touching the lower part of the woman's body while the train was between Ikebukuro and Itabashi stations.

A man who saw what was going on grabbed the two suspects. However, when they exited the train at Itabashi Station, one suspect shook himself free, jumped onto the tracks and fled in the direction of Akabane Station.

Police believe the two suspected gropers know each other and are questioning the suspect about the man who got away.

Good for the passenger who saw what was happening and intervened.

Yep. We need more like him. Good show.

The Saikyo Line is a nest of gropers.

Just a word of warning for the foreign guys. DO NOT attempt to grab these perverts if you see what's going on. You will end up in more trouble than the pervert. Stay out of Japan business!

As a foreigner... just stop the guy and leave it at that. Don't try to hold him for the police. You don't have to use force to stop someone, just let them know that you know what they're doing and they'll stop. Let's hope that more good Japanese men step up in the future.... because the bad one's are ruining Japan's image.

Many of these perps escaping by jumping on the rails recently. Time to implement the train camera's more quickly.

what a nice guy . i would not have the courage to grab the gropers until the girl asked for help as a gaijin . as my friends have warned me don't ever get in something that has to do with police .

Isn't that like.. a daily occurrence?

If you want to end groping, privatize the subway, and make it easy for victims of groping to sue the shi& out of the company every time they get groped. I guarantee you that within a month or two the problem will be fixed.

This is what the country really needs if it wants to stop these kind of crimes, that is people standing up for it. Good one on the unnamed hero!

Kudos to the Japanese gentlemen who heroically took charge and detained the two suspects.

Best you can do as a gaijin when you see groping is talk about it in a loud voice and ask someone to grab the pervert. My friend rescued a woman from being groped, on Saikyo line, and got detained by the cops for a whole morning, without pay. They were upset that he took it upon himself to intervene. Japan is not as foreigner friendly as the posters at the airport would like you to believe. Saikyo line has always been a perverts paradise and a women in a non woman car is seen as being open to a thrill in the eyes of some creeps.

That's why whenever I am on a crowded train, my hands are always visible. One hand on my shoulder strap and the other is holding my phone. if not holding the bag strap, holding the overhead pole or straps on the train.

I've always wondered how these guys get off the tracks after they have jumped on to them. There aren't exactly many places you can just nip onto the streets are there? And wouldn't the places you can get off the tracks be teeming with people and pretty obvious, like fumikiri, and the police send some people there to arrest them?

I know, even if you witness an accident, be prepared to be interrogated and miss work for 1-2 days.

I am pretty sure I brushed up against a woman on the Saikyo line just this past Saturday. Luckily for me it was my wife. So far there is no indication that she will be pressing any charges. These other two guys will not be so lucky.
