Police in Osaka have arrested two men on suspicion of assaulting a 19-year-old male motorcyclist with a stick last month.
The unnamed suspects have been described as a self-employed man, 38, and his roommate, 26, who works as a courier, Sankei Shimbun reported. The two live in Nishinari Ward, where the alleged assault occurred at around 9:50 p.m. on May 20.
According to police reports, the suspects said they attacked the motorcyclist because his bike’s exhaust system was “too loud.” They hit their victim in the head with a wooden stick about one meter long. The motorcyclist sustained minor injuries in the attack.
Following their arrest on Tuesday, the self-employed man denied the charge while the courier admitted to “targeting motorcycles with a noisy exhaust system.”
Another assault involving a two-seat motorcycle along the same road in Nishinari Ward was reported to police on May 2. Two male victims were attacked with a stick. Police are questioning the two suspects about that incident.© Japan Today
