2 men arrested for assaulting motorcyclist in Osaka

Police in Osaka have arrested two men on suspicion of assaulting a 19-year-old male motorcyclist with a stick last month.

The unnamed suspects have been described as a self-employed man, 38, and his roommate, 26, who works as a courier, Sankei Shimbun reported. The two live in Nishinari Ward, where the alleged assault occurred at around 9:50 p.m. on May 20.

According to police reports, the suspects said they attacked the motorcyclist because his bike’s exhaust system was “too loud.” They hit their victim in the head with a wooden stick about one meter long. The motorcyclist sustained minor injuries in the attack.

Following their arrest on Tuesday, the self-employed man denied the charge while the courier admitted to “targeting motorcycles with a noisy exhaust system.”

Another assault involving a two-seat motorcycle along the same road in Nishinari Ward was reported to police on May 2. Two male victims were attacked with a stick. Police are questioning the two suspects about that incident.

I can't condone violence of course, but I sure know why they felt like taking a stick to the little so and so on the bike. Sometimes you get what you ask for.

Assault is of course wrong and they should be prosecuted.

But I wish the police would do more about those modified bikes noisy as hell, not sure if there is any law, but it should be. And I say that as a biker myself.

Just call it what it is. Two men stopped a bosozuka from disturbing the peace because the police do not enforce this law when it comes to loud motorcycles.

Good on them. Those kids think they’re so hard driving around on their tiny little lawnmowers with modified exhausts (that their parents probably paid for). Good to see people taking them down a peg or two

" those modified bikes noisy as hell"

"police do not enforce this law when it comes to loud motorcycles."

Noisy motorcycles even in the so called upper class parts of Tokyo, is very annoying.

It keeps Japan in the same class as other 3rd world countries in terms of noise pollution.

But this attention disease is part of noisy bikers expressing feelings of an inferiority complex.

"police do not enforce this law when it comes to loud motorcycles."

That's the main problem.

Actually the police are having a blitz this month on modified exhuasts so excessive noise is the target , they do enforce the noise laws, once a month once a year.

I can seriously empathize with these guys.

I think they are a cool part of Japanese culture just like geisha or hello kitty.

what I hate is the extreme right decorations and ideology most of them have at only 19 years old.

I was listening to music late one night and I felt an earthquake coming on. I quickly took off my headphones to evacuate my family from the building. I was both relieved and pissed off when it turned out to be some Bosozoku going by on their noisy motorcycles. It felt like a 3 or 4 on the Richter scale.

I’m downvoted?

surely you guys (not in the military), the older folk, were young once? Didn’t you drink homeshine and do drag racing in your V8s to get Mable into the back seat.

you SOUND like the old ladies in Tokyo who ban little kiddies from playing in parks or sign petitions to ban kindergartens because they are too noisy.

Was the  motorcyclist ticketed for not wearing a helmet?

Your comment flew straight over the heads of most here. No big loss.

I am good with kids in parks. I am good with all the stuff I did when young such as drinking and having parties in the woods. I am also good with the mountain racers at midnight. Most people can barely hear them and they do it for sport. But the bosozoku wake me up and scared my son when he was little and their entire point is to bother and even terrorize people. These two guys may have actually done it, but many dream of beating those no good selfish punks.

I sure know how they feel.

The amount of noise pollution in Japan is ridiculous.

The people who make their bikes louder are just saying: Look at me! Me! Look at Me!
