Police in Tsu, Mie Prefecture, have arrested two 25-year-old men on suspicion of stealing 550,000 yen in cash from a male office employee in March.
According to police, Yoshito Ishiguro and Yoshinobu Oi, both unemployed and of no fixed address, robbed the 42-year-old man as he walked home at around 5:15 a.m. on March 30, Kyodo News reported. They pushed the victim to the ground and stole the money from his jacket breast pocket.
The victim had been drinking alcohol in Yokkaichi City, Mie Prefecture, and was attacked after exiting a taxi near his home. At the time, Oi was managing the restaurant where the victim had been that night.
Police suspect Oi found out that the man had a large sum of money on him and conspired with Ishiguro to rob him.
