2 men sought over 3 bag-snatching incidents in one morning

Police in Tokyo are looking for two men who stole handbags from women in three incidents one after the other early Wednesday morning in Shinjuku Ward.

According to police, a woman in her 30s called 110 just after 12:30 a.m. Wednesday, reporting that her handbag was snatched while she was walking along a street in Okubo. She told police that two men came up behind her, beat and kicked her, then took her handbag which contained about 8,000 yen in cash, Sankei Shimbun reported. The woman sustained minor injuries, including bruises, police said.

Shortly after, two similar incidents occurred on streets in Shinjuku’s Kabukicho district, also involving young women. Police said they believe the same men were involved in both those cases and are analyzing street surveillance camera footage to try and identify the men.

These punks are all over the world. They all pick on defenseless women and the elderly. They travel in groups because they are cowards. We have them in Hawaii and they pick on Japanese tourists. The next time you see a purse snatching in progress just slug the perpetrator and they will run away because they are afraid to fight

Thanks Pacificpilot, I’ll remember this advice when I’m lying in hospital recovering from stab wounds.

That wont work in JAPAN outside a US base, , cause the kobanites will lock you up for assault and tell you don't get involved, if you are a westerner, the kobanites will tell you that's our job once we finally get around to it. Even if a JN attacks you, you are expected to run away, or run to the koban, or dial 911, by the time they arrive they most likely are long gone, and you must hope the security cameras will help them catch the perp(s)-real talk.

I hope that they are quickly caught. But knowing how the justice system in Japan works, I wouldn't be surprised if they just get a slap on the wrist. SMH

This so true! So much so that a perp just needs to say you touched them (foreigner), and you will be looking at a long interrogation for an assault case. Wannabe JN bad boys talk a good game, but they are not really about that life.

As soon as the police arrive they will immediately play the victim role for a kind of ransom/hostage situation with the police. You will must either confess or pay the perp a bribe to avoid an indictment. If they are with any friends then you chances will jump exponentially of going to jail.

Also, since school has been cancelled, places like Shinjuku, Harjuku, and Shibuya have been party central every night. It is like Spring Break in Florida. Every day of the week has been crowded with young people and tourists. With no certainty about normal classes resuming, young people can stay out all night basically.

I wouldn't be surprised if crime increased a little. People are scared, resources are becoming scarce, and the future is always uncertain.

Or when you're lying on the bed in jail after being arrested by Japanese cops for beating up those poor Japanese criminals.

I'll be sure and send you my hospital bills, Inspector Callahan.
