Seems like the female employee knew the store very well if she wasn't a manager. I don't expect all employees to know the access codes to get into the safe.. Safes in businesses like these usually would have a drop slot for regular employees to only make their drop but should have no way for them to opening it for any reason. If she was a Manager.. I don't thinks he would be working those hours alone. Or maybe I am wrong?

I'm just surpised that any restaurant would keep 4.1 million yen on the premises overnight, instead of depositing a substantial portion of it the day before.

That's sort of, kind of asking for it in this economy.

Glad no one got hurt though.

only one person manning the whole McDonalds in the early morning

Depends on the place. Sukiya in rural areas often have just one person manning the entire gig because there aren't that many customers. So it isn't that uncommon, especially as everywhere needs to save money!

Most fast food restaurants here in Japan are not open 24/7 and for those that are open really late it's usually only the drive through. According to an article on Yahoo! Japan, there were 4 employees in there at the time. The women was a manager. They were probably there just getting stuff ready until the rest of the morning crew came in. Maybe they were expecting a delivery. The article said the men forced there way in. The fortunate thing was that nobody got hurt.

Could it have been an inside job? Yes. But, somebody was probably just careless and opened the door without verifying who it was. The robbers could have been posing as delivery people. No way of knowing without more info.

This not as uncommon as it seems. Not too long ago Yoshinoyas were being targeted late a night/early in the morning. Other fast food places and restaurants have been hit as well. If you get the timing right, these places usually have quite a bit of cash in their safes and most of the crew are young people without a death wish.

GUess that coffee thing isn't bringing that many people or they would have had more staff on?

This heist's got the Hamburglar's fingerprints all over it.

It's hilarious how quickly the "junior detectives" jump to "inside job" with no evidence.

The rear entrances are usually code locked, so how did they actually get in? It had to be someone with knowledge of the outlet.

I think the management had one too many Happy Meals-And that kind of loss is sure to set some heads rolling!

@Ch1n4Sailor.

What would you have the police do? Hang out at every fast food/famires joint in the whole country? They should check them out, every night, the whole night, every single day of the year? Of course they should be priorotized since "real crime" might occur there. As soon as the coppers don't prevent a crime they become "useless"? You must come from a great country where all crimes are prevented. Good for you.

Jcops where are you...? Real Crime happening here... Or are we going to go back to this, see no evil, hear no evil speak no evil again...?

In a week or two, The Jcops will blame it on a some Chinese gang, or band of foreigners that ha since left the country...

Anybody want to call the odds on this one...? I'll give you a 1000 to 1, unless these guys turn themselves in, this will again be filed under the Cold Case files.
