2 shots fired at house in Toyama

Two shots were fired at a house in Toyama City on Monday night. The bullets went through a window and were found on the livingroom floor, police said.

A couple and their daughter live in the two-story house. The mother was in the livingroom at the time of the shooting, which occurred at around 10:50 p.m., Fuji TV reported, adding she was not hurt.

A witness told police that right after the shooting, a man on a motorbike sped away from the house which is about four kilometers from JR Toyama Station.

As a precaution, the Toyama Education Board decided to close all 91 elementary and junior high schools in the city on Tuesday.

Well, I do not want to speculate. But this is textbook Yakuza intimidation. Based on previous drive byes like this in my area of Japan. Readers what say you?

Just be glad they didn't lob a grenade....like they were doing in Kyushu a while back.

lots of shootings in Toyama lately...it's starting to become a bit like a certain large country notorious for the same thing...now at least if it's yakuza we can trust it is no random thing...

Is something missing form the story? Strange to close all schools due to two bullets being shot at a house. Now, if several buildings were shot at I would understand.

Agree with Slickdrifter above. It's like the Black Spot in Treaure Island. "You are marked, we know where you live, and we move outside the law. Beware."

Wow! A drive by shooting in Japan? Perhaps, just perhaps, it’s not ‘the safety country’ it’s touted to be.

It has to yakuza. No details about the people in the targeted house. Not an accident.

If the slugs were found on the tatami and slowed by a window, the ammo used must have been WWII vintage.

I'm going to take a wild guess here and assume they meant lodged in the floor, not just laying there.

If the bullets went through a window and landed on the floor instead of embedding themselves in the wall somewhere, that's some pretty lame ass rounds. Are you sure you didn't just throw them?

I was going to say the same thing! Bullets don't go through a window and fall on the ground. I've never seen/heard of that in my years on this job! Maybe he bought the "bullets" and toy gun from Daiso's 50% off bin! hahaha

Or he didn't have a gun at all, and really did just throw them through the window, where they were later found by the residents. Or maybe he used a slingshot.
