2 tons of flour stolen in Saitama

Two tons of flour were stolen Thursday from the warehouse of flour maker Nikkoku Seifun Corp in Higashi-Matsuyama, Saitama Prefecture. According to police, a 50-year-old employee reported the theft of a truck with 90 bags containing two tons of flour in total, which is worth 270,000 yen, when he came to the warehouse around 2 a.m.

The stolen flour is used mainly to make noodles. Police believe the spiraling price of raw materials has created a black market for such items.

Me thinks someone is about to find 270,000¥ worth of flour floating face down in a river somewhere. The poor stuff never had a chance.

the title of the article is misleading. It said somebody stole the truck with flour in it. The truck is more expensive than a 270,000Y noodles i suppose so the title should be truck stolen in Saitama. Flour black market my ass, these people can be really so imaginative. I mean are you going to steal 270,000 worth of flour to sell in the black market? What? For a profit of 270,000Y? Has anybody heard of flour black market? You can get more cash by robbing a combini (convenient store) than this.

Isn`t the truck worth more than the dough?

Nope, no stolen truck. It was about 326 guys that waltzed in, under the nose of the sleeping guard, and quietly filled their pockets with the stuff, and then waltzed right out.

Word on the street is they are going to make a giant flour tortilla to rescue their comrades in arms from Cuba.

Viva la revolucion!

"the noodles black market"

I wonder if we can get Jackie Chan to star in it?

Then again, how do you sell all that flour? At a pawn shop?

the criminal mind at its most devious- who will tell the fat children there will be no donuts for dessert?

The easiest way to make a profit. But poor security is an open invitation to the creepy-sneaky-good-for-nothing league.
