20-year-old man arrested for cutting high school girl’s skirt at train station

Police in Neyagawa, Osaka Prefecture, have arrested a 20-year-old man on suspicion of property destruction after he cut the skirt of a high school girl with a knife at a train station on Tuesday.

Police said the suspect, Shoto Kaku, a part-time worker from Kadoma City, is suspected to be the culprit behind more than a dozen similar incidents targeting school girls around Neyagawa City between June 24 and 27, Sankei Shimbun reported.

Police said that Kaku was behind the girl on an escalator inside Keihan Electric Railway’s Kayashima Station at around 7:30 a.m. on June 24. The girl was heading to school at the time. With a knife measuring 30 cm in length, Kaku cut her school uniform skirt and fled the train station.

Kaku emerged as a suspect after surveillance camera footage showed him on the escalator behind the girl. Following his arrest on Monday, he was quoted by police as saying, “I was interested in her underwear.”

Do Japanese guys have some kind of fetish when it comes to high school girls?

Do Japanese guys have some kind of fetish when it comes to high school girls?

Have a look at the magazines in the convenience stores.

Japanese boys and young men are conditioned from a young age to fantasize about high school girls and even younger.

This preps them to become avid viewers of porn and users of the red light district establishments.

Those who don't have the income to afford the "fuzoku" establishments (like this p/t worker) have to address their pent-up 'needs' (as conditioned from a young age) in some manner...in his case it's slashing skirts, in others its molesting on trains, others straight-up rape.

"With a knife measuring 30 cm in length"

aww he's supposed to have been locked up walking around with that long knife, according to jn law.

Of all the other crimes he committed, this was the one they chose to lead with?

With a knife measuring 30 cm in length,

That's a big fricken knife. I'm surprised that they didn't get him on concealed weapons charges as well.

Dangerous individual

this guy should just visit the red light district if he can't keep his hands from girls. One thing could progress into another, and let's hope it doesn't get worse from here.

I feel sorry for the girl and all the others who had to suffer because of this person's perversion.

Attacking children is inexcusable and he should be locked up.

Many young men are interested in such prurient matters - that’s not a crime. But what was this guy thinking when he decided to slice open clothing in a highly congested public place? So many idiots....

Oh, they will.

They often only go with one initial charge because they can keep a suspect in custody longer if they let his 30 days run out, then charge him with another crime that merits another 30 days. They can hold him indefinitly if they keep tacking on charges.

There is a purpose to beginning with a simple, easy to prosecute charge. It gives them time to build their case on other more serious charges. Hopefully they'll later get him for sexual molestation as well.

I don't exactly agree with the way the Japanese justice system, works, but in some cases the person being charged is well-deserving.

@Monty

I guess your post is ironic right?

Yes. Been here 20 years. This story is so old that one has to wonder why Japanese men / boys don't know that high school girls are just kids. In America, we date women our age. Of course there are those in America who are into little children, but they tend to be arrested and spend the rest of their lives in Jail. I think its called something like: Jail Bait. Or something.

That is a heck of a knife, more like a short sword. Completely illegal right there. Glad they caught this nutcase.

Michael Machida do you not live in Japan ? It's commonplace here.

What a creep! Lock him up!

Is he a chef?why's he walking around with a 30cm knife?

I'm going to go out on a limb here, and I know it's really out there, but I'm suspecting he did it so he could cut some schoolgirl's skirt.

I know. Crazy talk.

Obvious you just got off the boat or never read the news, one or the other.

My own wife was almost raped passing through Aoyoma Cemetary (regular way most people came to my old job).

Welcome to the REAL Japan.

So...what you are saying is that its okay if he did it in an alley or somewhere not as public as the escalator?

I know this isn't what you meant. But I couldn't resist.

Another sex offender. Still no sex offenders register.

Is there a Japanese law equivalent to assault with a deadly weapon? I think that is more appropriate. As for the pantie excuse, just go and buy some from a vending machine or buy some used ones on line, but leave the poor b***dy kids alone, its no wonder they throw them self of train station platforms, they have lots of things to worry about let alone weirdoes like this guy.

Ah, Nihon and young men and women's underwear... One wonders what makes underwear such a draw and the thought occurs that perhaps such men rarely get past the underwear and, never having seen what it conceals, have confused their objects of desire...

How many of these crimes go unreported?

Japan, not as safe as people think...

Japan, not as safe as people think...

And yet much more safe than posters on this board would have you believe.

Do these kids know the costs of them skirts. It adds up in time, size and finally final bill.

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

If and When Japan ends this SCAM called uniforms then people can dress freely and anyway they wish without being Targeted and Harassed. If the schools wants uniforms then they can change at school. Many of these kids are getting harassed because of these stupid uniforms.

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

Criminals ignore laws about knives? Clearly that means stronger knife control is lacking everywhere in Japan. That knife culture is terrible.

-4 ( +0 / -4 )

That individual should receive a caning and be sentenced to at least ten years in prison with no possibility of parole. Such consequences would likely discourage such action and encourage safety which would in effect increase the chances of a UTOPIA. It is a shock that these sort of horrible things could occur in Japan because I thought Japan as well as the other East Asian Countries (Taiwan, Mainland China) are known for being virtually free of street crime where one can walk around wherever and whenever they want regardless of gender. It is also my understanding that Japan and the other East Asian Countries (Taiwan, Mainland China) do not contain Ghetto areas like many western countries (e.g. Camden, New Jersey).
