The vast majority of major incidents are caused by human-based attack vectors. Companies can spend every last dollar they have on security, but if someone clicks a link and enters details or downloads something without realizing they’re on the wrong page, it won’t protect them.

But have you ever noticed how come there's no cyber-criminal gangs getting arrested in Russia, even with Russia's sophisticated police?

Yet despite all these big cyber-criminal gangs residing in Russia, you don't hear Russian institutions getting hacked by them?

A lot of cybersecurity groups have been putting that 2 & 2 together, resulting in 2 main conclusions - either:

(1) The state and the cyber-criminal gangs are one and the same

or

(2) There's an understanding between the state and the cyber-criminal gangs that, as long as the gangs don't go after Russian institutions, the state authorities won't go after them. This may be good for Russia, but it doesn't make for a responsible world neighbor (when your neighbors are getting their windows broken by stones thrown by scoundrels from your yard, but you're not doing anything about those scoundrels). Imagine if all other countries do the same with their cyber-criminal gangs.............. then everybody's windows will be broken in the neighborhood!
