Police in Chiba City have arrested a 21-year-old college student on suspicion of attempted murder after he stabbed a 25-year-old female acquaintance with a kitchen knife.

According to police, the incident occurred at around 3:30 p.m. at a cram school room in Hanamigawa Ward, Fuji TV reported. Police said the suspect, Ryo Miyasho, stabbed the woman in the neck. The victim managed to escape to a police box located in front of JR Makuhari Station, and an officer apprehended Miyasho.

The woman was taken to hospital and was in a stable condition on Thursday.

Police said Miyasho has admitted to the charge. The knife was found in the cram school room. Only he and the victim were in the room at the time, police said,

Sounds like the man's motivation for stabbing the female acquaintance is not clear. But fortunately, stabbing was not fatal. Hope she gets back on her feet soon.

Maybe he had a thing for her and she rejected him and he couldn't take it? Or maybe he's just psycho?

acquaintance: "a person that you have met but do not know well"

Apparently the woman was at the cram school to study and not to pick up random Japanese hunks.

Whodda thunk it!!

Scary stuff.... too many people out here who act impulsively. If this guy needed to blow off steam, he needed to find a healthier way to do it. Hope the lady recovers soon.

This may seem like a pessimistic or cynical view of Japanese society, but ask a Japanese men their opinion on the matter and, if they know you well enough to speak their mind, they will probably tell you rejection is very difficult for most Japanese men. Things are unlikely to change.
