21-year-old man arrested over kidnapping of girl he met online

Police in Usa, Osaka Prefecture, have arrested a man on suspicion of kidnapping a teenage girl he met through an online game.

According to police, Naoya Uemura, a construction worker, became acquainted with the girl, who lives in Osaka Prefecture, while playing an online game, Sankei Shimbun. Police said Uemura lured her to visit Usa by bus. He picked her up and took her to his home where he kept her confined between Aug 22 and Sept 12.

The girl’s mother contacted police when she failed to return home on Aug 22 and filed a missing person's report. Investigators managed to trace her whereabouts to Uemura’s home on Sept 12 after analyzing surveillance camera footage at the bus station, showing him meeting the girl.

Police said the girl was not harmed.

@snoweymountainhill... I agree with you. Role play is one thing but going beyond that and actually living out your sick fantasies is another thing.

Snowymountainhell, in Japan not harmed means any visible physical injuries. But of course we know that it is the mental stress and damage that will haunt this girl for a long time, but the police and others don't seem to worry about that.

The original text says that the girl was not injured.

So is she 13 or 19? It makes a difference.

The original text says the girl is a high school student, so she is between 16 and 18 years old.

If you read the original text, you will see that there is no case.

It's probably just an encounter between a 21-year-old man and a high school girl.

How is a person’s occupation in any way relevant to these kinds of stories? There are more important details missing.

As usual as little information as possible.

Get some mug shots and ID photos on these perps, put em all on blast.

Otherwise, the same thing is gonna happen again and again and again...............

and btw........

a teenage girl

So is she 13 or 19? It makes a difference.

A few facts missing here which would be useful. How old was the 'teenage girl' given Uremura's age? Did he have her chained to the ofuro or toire pipes? Did he go to work while she was there? If he did, did he 'sternly' tell her NOT to leave the apartment? She had no access at any time to a cellphone, a neighbor, or even a cry of "tetsudatte!"? Japanese doors can be locked from the outside with no way to open them from the inside? What is her relationship with her mother like? 21 days, three weeks, with no opportunity to take a hike? Hmmm...and she came to see him voluntarily? Did she happen to have a suitcase with her when she came?

But of course we know that it is the mental stress and damage that will haunt this girl for a long time, but the police and others don't seem to worry about that.

Yeah. Men, here a boy, just shrug trauma off like loose snow and never have long term pain when abused. I suppose assuming that this 'girl' had no agenda of her own seems a fair way to judge for some...but she must have had some purpose to take a bus apparently some distance to visit a man's home...

“Agreed *@MarkX.*” @7;45*…in Japan not harmed means [not] any visible ‘physical’ injuries. But of course, we know that it is the mental stress and damage that will haunt this girl for a long time, but the police and others don't seem to worry about that.”*

A snake will always choose to eat a live, helpless mouse before being offered defrosted, dead mouse @Gaijinland 9:02am. - These sexual predators, particularly in Japan, seem to have a certain “taipu”, or ‘profile that need to fit into their fantasy of ‘stalking, capture & conquest’. Just finding a masochistic/submissive personality online to ‘role play a victim’ is not as thrilling as their escalating and insidious need for ‘real prey’.

20+ days and “Police said the girl was not harmed.” ??

Perhaps Japan’s Justice ministry and that cyberbullying legislation should also be focusing on the great amount of online predation, stalking and grooming of children for sexual exploitation that’s going on unchecked in JAPAN?

Perhaps @Jacko 7:02am you posted that productive comment on the wrong story today? Perhaps you meant it for… :

… cause can’t see how that’s relevant here. Please clarify if I missed something and am mistaken.

Good lord, 21 days how do you ever get over something like that.

We need need to teach and stress about the importance of cyber security in schools, starting from the junior level.
