Police said Tuesday they are looking for a man who stabbed a 22-year-old cyclist in Mito, Ibaraki Prefecture.

According to police, the alleged attack occurred on Monday evening when the victim was riding his bicycle. TBS quoted police as saying the victim was attacked out of nowhere by a man carrying a bladed weapon. His attacker reportedly shouted, "So, you're yakuza huh?" before stabbing him in the abdomen and then immediately fleeing the scene.

The victim was taken to hospital where doctors said his injuries are not life-threatening.

Did he shout Yakuza in English or Japanese? I guess it was Japanese. Would be interesting to know if he was yakuza or not. Either way, I hope he is ok and the cops get the knife wielding loon.

It's just over a mile from the scene of another stabbing back in March: http://www.japantoday.com/smartphone/view/crime/cash-strapped-man-stabs-passerby-in-bid-to-live-in-prison

They've arrested a 69 year old guy for this most recent crime. 69!

Are there no bicycle police in that area?

Who cares if the victim was a yakuza or not? If he was, would it then be acceptable for somebody to walk up and stab him?

How strange that there are these random stabbings and attacks that seem like copycat assaults here and there for unknown reasons or by the same screwball. Sure hope these nuts are apprehended. Got to keep my back to the wall.
