22-yr-old woman attacked by man with scissors on street in Ibaraki

Police said Tuesday they are looking for a man who approached a 22-year-old woman on the street near her home in Mito City on Monday afternoon, and then cut off some of her hair and also cut her in the face with a pair of scissors.

Police received a call just before 5 p.m. from the woman, saying a man had attacked her. She told police that the man, about 170 cm tall and wearing brown clothes and a black baseball cap, approached her from behind and called out to her. When she turned around, the man cut off about 5 cm of her hair and also cut her in the face, leaving a scratch a couple of centimeters long.

The man fled on foot. The woman said she did not know the man.

...a few rounds one on one with "Rena" would stop this sort of behavior! Sorry, manyof you would not know who Rena is. She went to my University. A stupid jerk walked her home, and decided to force his way into her apartment. It was the wrong this to do. His was every bit 6 foot, and she was 4 foot at most. He left her apartment with a broken jaw, and several noticable cuts on his face. Last time I spoke to her she was trying to look up where he lived. SHe was going to return the visit to discuss his behavior.

PLease do not consider this story off topic as I am trying to make a point that a little Judo goes a long ways and that every girl should learn self defense. It could mean the difference between having your story published in Japan Today, or having a humrous story to tell your friends!

It's voodoo, I've seen it before in Haiti.

“saying to himself, "Nothing wrong with me, with me, with me, with me, with me, with me, with me, with me, with me, with me, with me, with me, with me, with me, with me, with me, with me."

Do you not feel that maybe you were being just a touch excessive there & maybe it is you that we need worry about? We really wouldn’t want to lose one of our better regulars.

As for the freak, I suspect he just wanted the hair & cut the girl by accident, had he wanted to he could have done a great deal more damage, but didn’t. Just a sad little freak at this time & if he gets the tablets & takes them he will hopefully stay that way & not develop into something really nasty.

obviously that loon didn't get enough natto and a crash course in how to behave with women while growing up.

He would be better off cutting hair on the train of sleeping women. I bet he did not mean to cut her face. He just wanted some hair.

Well then, haven't had one of these for a couple of weeks. You can just imagine this loon walking around the streets saying to himself, "Nothing wrong with me, with me, with me, with me, with me, with me, with me, with me, with me, with me, with me, with me, with me, with me, with me, with me, with me."

How can Japanese society weed out these lunatics? Better still, how could the Japanese government lock up the 24% of adults who are certified loons?

Wacko-mania is runnin' wild in mainland Japan!

I recall a similar story not long ago. I commented then that it was probably the perp's first time and that he'd likely escalate. Last time he just cut the hair - now the face too... Do they have detectives over there that can follow this sort of reasoning and maybe anticipate his next move? The guy probably wants to get caught as bad as we want him off the streets. Get on it!

This guy must be a mule hair collector. There are few people around the world and they pay good money for off-cuts to make wigs. Cops will sure take a long time to nab him, if they ever do. Lady was very lucky this time.

You know its time japanese women get some mace, and some training on how to use it. I know its not relevant but the NPA showing domestic abuse stats probably dosent compare to assault stats like these. And its usually when the perp hits 20 or more victims that they finally get caught or fade away.

Why does Japan Today continue to print sensational news all day long ? Any nation has its fair share of daily shocking news. A little bit of perspective would be appreciated

Moderator: Specifically, what do you mean by perspective? What story would you like us to report on today?

Man? I am afraid not. Male humanoid creature is more apt.

yes there are some real dorks in this country. Such a shame. At least he didn't stab her and leave her to die or kidnap her and cut her up into pieces. It always could have been worse.

Must be the warmer weather that brings the loonies out of hibernation. I fear we are in for a long hot summer of aberrations like this and the guy with the iron bar in Hiroshima.
