23-year-old man arrested for abusing girlfriend's 1-year-old son

Police in Himeji, Hyogo Prefecture, said Thursday they have arrested an unemployed 23-year-old man on suspicion of attempted murder after he abused his girlfriend's one-year-old son.

According to police, the suspect, Atsuhiro Inoue, lives with his girlfriend, who is in her 20s, and her son. Sankei Shimbun reported that Inoue is accused of beating the child at around 11 p.m. on Tuesday, while his girlfriend was at work.

Police said Inoue threw the child to the floor. A short time later, he called 119 and the child was taken to hospital where he was diagnosed as suffering hemorrhaging of the brain. The hospital notified police about a case of possible child abuse.

Police said the child remains in a coma.

Inoue was quoted by police as saying he lost his temper because the boy wouldn't stop crying and that he had become stressed out by child-rearing recently.

Neighbors said the couple moved into the apartment about 2-3 months ago.

And, what's the bet she works in a girly bar? However, he is definitely a loser! Let's hope he is given a penalty befitting the crime and not a slap on the wrist. Let's also hope this girl dumps this loser quick smart!

I'm not sure if 'step-son' is the correct term. They are not married. Beating his girlfriend's son would be more correct.

Ron.

You are a real humanitarian.

Not sure which upsets me more: his crime or what fate you think he deserves. Both are despicable and sez a lot about you too.

It's too hard to understand how a man or even a boy could do that to an infant. I'll be voted down I know, but there's also the problem of the woman who lives with a guy like that. I find it hard to believe that a man is gentle and loving toward the boy and then suddenly just turns into a monster. Some women have to realize that its better off being on your own and lonely and struggling than being with a loser guy. At the first hint they need to leave.

There's also the problem of Japanese finding it hard to accept children not their own. Before the howls of protest - note how few people adopt, and at how amazed people are at how normal it is to adopt in western countries. i've had many people over the years remark at how they couldn't do it and don't understand why westerners do it. And I've heard too many women say they would find it hard to accept the child of another woman.

Tragic

In America you'll find the great majority of adoptive parents to be practicing christians, who see adoption as a moral duty. And you'll find that most Japanese families who adopt are also christians. I'm not proselytizing here, but religion and culture are the main differences between adoption rates.

Lets hope the j-cops throw him to the floor in an attempt to get him to confess a bit more.

Japan is one of the few developed countries were this is possible, they can keep you isolated long enough for the bruises to heal. They will also find the darkest, and least comfortable place to house this young man, and they aren't going to be too picky about what they feed him. If the baby lives, he'll be out of jail soon enough, if the baby dies, he'll probably serve 5 years or less, so the police will add what little "justice" they can while he is in their charge.

This is a common occurrence here. Many young Japanese men don't like children from another male. If you want statistic keep watching the news, won't be long before it happens again or you can go down to the local koban and ask any policeman how much of this abuse never gets to the news.

Ladies should select with great caution and only after exhaustive examination a potential partner. If that potential partner is unable to provide adequate material and mental support for any offspring, then say no and run away. Invest at least the same care and research in partner selection as would be invested in buying a new car.

There are many examples in nature of male animals killing the offspring of other males and, unfortunately, it seems that humans are little different from animals in that respect.

These people disgust me. Laws need to be more stricter for those who abuse or kill children. The future of this country literally depends on it.

Yes, you are right and the story has been amended to reflect that.

Lock this guy up, immediately. Sounds like a lovely couple. And just out of curiosity, why is it when a woman does these things people jump to her defense and suggest mental trouble, that she deserves sympathy, etc., but don't do the same for men? They should rot regardless of gender, or how "stressed out at child-rearing" they are.

This is sad. Children cry and sometimes need to be disciplined if they are doing it without reason. However, no what there is no reason this guy should have thrown the child on the floor with so much force that would cause a brain hemorrhage. My prayer and hope I have is the child is still young and brain damage at a young age can heal to the level of a normal child. A child's brain can reroute neuron paths to compensate for damage as long as it is not catastrophic.

My prayers and best wishes to you, baby boy.

I am into more stricter laws when it comes to child abuse, those who survived may suffer emotional scar/trauma that can last long after the physical abuse have healed. Bad parenting decisions contributes to this as well. Women with young children should be cautious when finding a partner or may end up like this.

This punk should be put away for a VERY long time. Beating a 1 year old helpless toddler. Lets hope the j-cops throw him to the floor in an attempt to get him to confess a bit more. I hope they beat the confession out of him. punk.

Sometimes you just have to teach the children some manners, otherwise they might become as bad themselves. It was merely a part of parents' duty."

What the hell is wrong with you?? The child was 1 year old!!

There's also the problem of Japanese finding it hard to accept children not their own.

Then they should find a single girl, not a young mom. Its not like there aren't ALOT of single young women around. This is Japan. Don't like kids? Don't date a mom.

And I've heard too many women say they would find it hard to accept the child of another woman.

Then don't date a father. Plenty of single men too. This is Japan. Don't date the parent if you can't accept the child. Singles can date singles and there should be a social network for single moms and dads to get together. Start their own Brady Bunch.

Look. When you date someone and even move in with them, you accept them as they are with the children that come along with them. If you can't do that, don't date that individual. But what does harming the helpless baby do? You go to jail and you won't be with the mom anymore. Even if you got off, I'm willing to bet most mothers wouldn't have anything to do with you after abusing their child.

i somehow wanna lose my temper againt that dude ...

mate don't get me started. This kind of news always ruins my day.

"lice said the child remains in a coma." I wonder how that happened.

I take exception to the description of this piece of work as "man" in the article. A real man would never harm a child

"A real man would never harm a child"

Japanese "men" do it all the time. Just look at the dodgy manga they read for entertainment...

pathetic cockroach, this guy. lets hope he gets a decent punishment. the death penalty would be best, though. i hope the little baby recovers.

I hope so

I hope he serves a long time, but unfortunately you're right.

Police... have arrested an unemployed 23-year-old man on suspicion of attempted murder

And if the child dies, that would make the man guilty of MURDER. Not "fatal abuse", just good old-fashioned PREMEDITATED MURDER!!
