Marital "arguments" are nothing and every couple has an argument. The police get involved when an assault has occured and there is a complaint by the victim.

That's a weird age gap

Back home we say half ya age plus 7 for a moral age gap. But with the maturity level of j men I can't fathom it... Cougar?

Why does that have to be the case?

It's not like the usual case of a 23-year old female and 40-year old male. The reasons there are clear: Physical attraction and money.

Usually in this type of case, the male is socially inept and naive, and the female is desperate for her last chance to have kids. Not normal for a young man to be interested in a women almost old enough to be his mother.

the man, a part-time worker, punched the woman’s shoulder with both fists. The woman called police who rushed to the scene and arrested the man at the scene. Police said the woman was not seriously injured.

This, of course, is reprehensible and not to be condoned. Prosecution for assault is perfectly reasonable.

Yet such incidents are common (in disputes involving either or both sexes) and this one, of its ilk, not especially remarkable.

There must be umpteen arrests for worse, and lesser, assaults in Japan daily. Why does this particular incident merit a headline news story?

When I was 23, I dated a 40-year-old woman for a little while. Nothing fishy about it. She was great in bed. Way better than most 23-year-old women.

Looking back over a lifetime of experiences, 35-45 is a real sweet spot for women and that sort of stuff. It really is.

His wife is nearly twice his age! Why did he marry her? Does she look half her age and is very beautiful? Or is she very rich?

A 23 year old male, married to another 23 year old female= Completely different outcome then what a 40 year old woman would do!

I don't approve of what he did, but dealing with an older woman, with more experience, more to say, more to judge, more likely to call the cops over anything that happens.

You made a mistake marrying such an older woman, she will always take advantage of that.

Any mistake you make an older woman would judge you 100x more then someone younger, someone your own age, someone that's not 20 years older then you, someone that can't give you kids anymore or higher chances of having birth issues. Older woman more likely to divorce as well.

Age is never a factor as long as the two respect and accept each others.

Disagreements are more common when there is a large age gap than people who are closer in age. The older one wants to be in control because they believe that they always know better, and the younger one wants to be free and independent to learn for themselves.

It becomes a parent-child relationship with sex!

Yeah, dating and enjoying the physical benefits for a while is fine. But marrying one!? I don't think so... in ten years he will be 33 and she will be 50. Never gonna work out.

I swear there are more cougars per capita in Japan than any other country on earth. I know of so many couples where the wife is at least 4 years older than the husband.

Violence is not acceptable in any relationships.

Secondly, age is a number and not a number where people should be grouped.

A 70 year man / woman who exercises regularly, maintains a healty diet and outlook may be in better shape than a 30 /40 year olds who are in not in good shape, physically and mentally.

In my area? Definitely so. From my experience, they are more down to earth than those around my age and more realistic with life.

An older women with a young man is unusual. The other way round is not. However some Japanese women in their 40s still look good and attractive so younger men may be interested in them.
