23-yr-old student held for allegedly molesting 4-yr-old girl in Shiga games arcade

Police in Nagahama, Shiga Prefecture, on Thursday arrested a 23-year-old student for allegedly molesting a 4-year-old girl in August last year. The suspect, who has been identified as Tokyo resident Takatoshi Inoue, allegedly touched the girl inappropriately in a department store games arcade in which the she had been shopping with her grandmother and older sister.

According to police, the girl's grandmother briefly left her to play in the arcade attended by her sister, at which point the assault occurred. Inoue was identified by the victim's sister's eye-witness testimony and the store security cameras.

Police say they are currently investigating the possibility of Inoue's involvement in several other crimes of this nature that occurred in the same city in August and September of last year.

Firstly what was the grandmother doing leaving a 4 year old alone to play? She needs a good swift kick in the a$$ to wake her up!

This inoune scum needs to be locked up and made to do hard labour for the next 50 years and never ever allowed anywhere near children again in his life.

It's such a shame there is no way to identify sick people like him earlier prior to them commiting sick acts .

Mind waiting for a trial before burning him at the stake? If guilty, throw the book at him but he deserves a trial first.

Trial?? The only thing that comes to my mind after reading this article is that someone like that scum doesn't deserve anything other than punishment for what he made that girl and maybe other young kids pass through.

Ditto that. Never will understand the mindset of these kinds of trash. Thank god the cops arrested him first....because if I got a hold of him.....I would have given him a real trial.

It is not uncommon to leave kids in the arcades for a little while in Japan.....

She was not left alone but with sister. Yes, trial - kind of normal process in civilised societies. Paedophilia is worldwide, not just Japan.

I wonder how old the 4-year-old girl's older sister is... Grandma left the little girl with her older sister, and if the sister was a teenager, I'd think it'd be okay if it was really just for a short time (like a few minutes for grandma to get a couple of things quickly or go to the bathroom or something like that)..

There was a report the other day that these kind of things happen more than twice as much in Osaka/Kansai region compare to Tokyo/Kanto region.. and Shiga is in the Kansai region... I wonder why more Kansai girls (girls under elementary age) become victims while more teenagers/high-school-age girls become victims in Kanto region.

Anyways.. I personally hope the little girl's father would go really punch this guy and bury him in the cold sandy beach.. I have a little girl and although I'd take her everywhere (yes, bathroom, too) while being out, this sort of news makes me concern.. so many what ifs nowadays..

WTF. Weirdo.

roppongi, thanks for pointing out that it was a "Japanese" student (I don't know why you used quotation marks when it wasn't a direct quote), but disgusting nonetheless.

This is Japan, so he'll get a slap on the wrist at best. Maybe he's a big fan of the manga porn that is being called into question of late. Either way, one sick dude.

And yes, why did the grandmother leave the two girls alone? My guess is the older sister is not THAT much older.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

How old is the older sister? Is she a reliable witness? Can a blurry image from a Japanese camera be trusted(forget the CSI stuff with image cleaning software-they don't do this stuff in Japan, it is too expensive, unless they have serious crime)?BTW, honestly, what's wrong with these Japanese grannies? One gives her grandchild jelly on which is written-do not give to children, another leaves her 4 y.o grandchild in a game arcade for shopping(or quick pachinko game?).

He will say sorry and go back to being a respected citizen for some reason.

Hmmmm.....the little girl SAID he did it, her sister SAW him do it, and the security cameras TAPED him doing it. This case is open and shut. The only reason he needs a trial is to find out what his sentence is.

But that does not make it right.

I agree, the sentence will definitely NOT fit the crime, I'm sure.

The article implies they only IDENTIFIED him from the security tapes, not necessarily caught him in the act. Presumed innocent before proven guilty and all that but he is lucky I didn't catch him around a 4 year old child of mine! Who wouldn't have been left in the care of an older sibling unless they were well into their teens.

oh well the grandma left her with her SISTER. Well that makes it all better. Obviously her SISTER was a terrific babysitter - no doubt shes about 5 or something. Easily the same as a responsible adult.

Seriously though ... a 4 year old? thats horrific. I hope the mother has had sense following this incident and these kids wont be left in the "care" of that grandmother again.

himehentai.

I consider that one funny. How many babysitters are hired overseas with NO qualifications where the parents spy on them with hidden cameras to make sure they don't invite the BF, party, etc .

Not saying it is good what she did but older siblings are usually trained/used to look after their younger brethren, both here and overseas.

Little mention of what this "molestation" consisted of, BTW. A kiss is inappropriate in this country, but hardly qualifies as traumatic. ANY physical contact with someone else's child might be rated inappropriate in this situation.

It also doesn't say that the sister SAW the offence, only that she was able to help identify the perp. Ditto the cameras. Read it again:

Inoue was identified by the victim’s sister’s eye-witness testimony and the store security cameras.

Let's not jump to conclusions.

The thing that really scares me is how many commenters admit to feeling justified (on the skimpy evidence in this report) in taking the law into their own hands and committing violence on the suspect. What happened to due process? Innocent until proven guilty.

Wait till you're on the other side of the accusation...

No, the article doesn't say that at all. Please read it again. The sister and the cameras were used to identify him, not that the assault was witnessed by the sister or recorded on camera.

According to Japanese news, the 4-year-old girl said that the guy touched her down there and her sister saw that, too.

Molesting a 4.year old, that´s just disgusting.

So they're starting 'em young now, huh....

The bad thing about this story is the little girl that was groped, the good news is everyone knows his name, and his neighbors certainly knows where he lives. I hope his new year starts out right. If he is found guilty, give him what he deserves, if not, he should stay out of arcades with hello kitty games in them.

Little Stars staff member Paul Wilson a 20 year old in Birmingham UK was charged for raping two children at a nursery only yesterday. Is Japanese crime different ?

Inoue was identified by the victim’s sister’s eye-witness testimony and the store security cameras.

It also doesn't say that the sister SAW the offence, only that she was able to help identify the perp.

In my country, "eye-witness" means you witnessed the crime. Kind of hard to give "eye-witness testimony" if the sister didn't witness the crime, ne?

It would seem he will be found guilty based on what the article says. The only question is will he apologize to the court and get off easy or will he insist on going down in flames. I would prefer the latter; given his actions he might be unhinged enough to do so.

In no way do I think this crime is right or justified, but some of you act like its the worst thing ever. The girl is four years old, will probably have no memory, and probably had no concept in the world what was happening. I am not excusing his crime in the slightest, but its nutso to treat this like kidnapping, murder or some other violent crime resulting in injury. He touched her privates, then he left. Its not the end of the world or even of innocence.

He might not even be a pedophile. He might just be desperate. He needs some punishment and he needs some mental help.

What the guy did was wrong, disgusting and outrageous. The case seems open and shut. The only thing to decide is his sentence. But let's not get carried away. Someone suggested 50 years of hard labor. Don't you think that's a bit extreme? Set aside your moral outrage and try to think of a logical and appropriate sentence for this crime. I think 3 to 5 years in prison is reasonable.

People keep saying about a guy. I thought Inoue was a girls name.

Never mind ..... looks like I'm wrong.

I thought Inoue was a girls name.

Inoue tends to be a LAST name.

I say 2-years in jail and another 2-years supervised probation should be appropriate for the crime he did!
