24-year-old man arrested for attempted murder of 18-day-old son

Police in Mitoyo, Kagawa Prefecture, have arrested a 24-year-old man on suspicion of attempted murder after he threw his 18-day-old son to the floor, causing the infant to suffer severe head injuries.

According to police, the incident occurred on June 15 at around 4:45 p.m. at the family’s home, Sankei Shimbun reported.

Police said Yohei Ogawa threw his newborn son to the tatami floor, leaving him with a bone fracture and other injuries, and later took him to the hospital for treatment. Suspicious of domestic violence after medical examinations, hospital staff reported the case to the local police, which led to Ogawa's arrest on Tuesday.

Ogawa lived together with his 26-year-old wife and their two children, a 1-year-old daughter and their newborn son.

Ogawa was quoted by police as saying that he committed the crime because he was “enraged” by his wife’s words to him when he was unable to dress his son appropriately. He has denied having any intentions to kill his son, though, police said.

According to police, Ogawa was arrested twice earlier this year on separate charges, both related to domestic violence. In March, his wife reported that he had pointed a knife toward her, and in June, he was arrested for injuring his daughter after hitting her on the head and causing her to fall down.

I'd be surprised if this 'man-child' could even dress himself properly.

This is a sick b@stard who will only continue hurting his family. Put him away and give the family a new home and identity.

The wife is the other half of the story

The wife is the other half of the story

Like many JT stories, the information here is incomplete. It doesn't say whether he did it in front of her, or that she even knew about it. But since she has a record of reporting him to the police (a sad family dynamic) , I don't think she would have let it go.

"Arrested twice earlier this year on separate charges, both related to domestic violence. Just one more sad statistic soon to be ignored by JGov.

Patterns run through lives. What pattern was woven throughout his life? I think it is plainly seen.

Better check the other child as well, odds are that this arsehole has done something like this before as well, and the mother needs to be checked as well, I'll bet he has a history of violence against people weaker than him.

Many domestic violence survivors refuse to "press charges" because that would put their source of income of of commission. I hope they can get away from this guy.

I'm a proud father of two sons and I remember just how I felt at the time of their birth, I have never and would never do anything to harm these two people I love the most. Thereby lay the problem, unwanted from the get go coupled up with an immature idiot father leads to disaster. I hope the kid is ok and the excuse for a father gets his rightful punishment, I'm guessing this is the difference between a biological father and a dad.

They is a problem in japan if a man can stay in the life of children he has punched

This is not a dad problem, this is a madness problem and how to deal with violence in a country that does not condemn it enough, when this is the matter of a child or a woman . There are effectives solutions in the world to correct those society mistakes devlopment but the main problem is always the same.

How making a politicman change the law to condemn your father to prison today or if yesterday was today ? Men protects their father and this one is violent rapist and does seams to bother the sons that much (which tell a lot about japan social misery and therefore lack of children) .

So he's threatened a woman with a knife and beat a little girl on the head til she fell down....and they didn't lock him up for that?? I'd say give him 30 years.

I just hope the little boy fully recovers and is never allowed to see that monster again.
