24-yr-old man held over abandoned body of student in Chiba forest

Police have arrested a 24-year-old man on charges of abandoning the body of a young woman which has been found near a forest road in Kisarazu, Chiba Prefecture, they said Monday.

Police arrested Yuki Honda, unemployed, of Ichikawa, Chiba Prefecture, while confirming that the woman was Kana Kikuchi, also of Ichikawa, a 19-year-old student at Chiba University of Commerce.

As police suspect Honda killed Kikuchi, investigators searched his home and began an autopsy on the body to determine the cause of her death.

Police said the man told them that he took her for a ride in a car from Ichikawa to Kisarazu and she got out of the car near the scene, denying that he killed her or abandoned her body.

Fingerprints found on a plastic bag pulled over her head were identical to those of the man and his parents' home is in Kisarazu, police said.

Police suspect the man abandoned the body at the scene between around 9:30 p.m. Friday and around 2:30 a.m. Saturday when she was expected to be home from her part-time job at a family restaurant in Ichikawa.

Police also seized a car which is believed to have been used to carry the body and found women's underwear near the scene.

24 years old?? Enough to HANG! Poor dead girl from Iwate, I can not even imagine the pain and suffering her parents must be going through, even now, at this very minute. RIP young lady.

people, I understand Japanese media and prosecutors already hang a suspect even before the investigation begins, but let's stick to the "innocent until proven guilty" idea. We just know that a guy knew a girl, the guy went back to his home city, and the girl was found dead. While it is suspicious for sure, hopefully nobody will ever get condemned only for that

I hope the poor girl gets justice. I doubt she did anything to deserve dying at the age of 19.

I agree with timeon. I mean if the guy did it, then he needs to go. But what proof do they have? It's sad though, another young woman dead.

When did he see her last? Did he drop her off back home? They will torture him into confessing.

The woman was found dead naked with a plastic bag over her face. Mr. Yuki Honda's fingerprints matches the ones on the plastic bag. That's why police arrested him.

For the J police to go out of the way and arrest this J dude, they must have plenty of EVIDENCE, so now he must enjoy his so called freedoms, not like the poor girl who was found with a plastic bag, she has no more freedoms, such a horrible, horrible crime.

@timeon; It'll be the 'fingerprints' on the murder weapon that people are reacting to, very condemning evidence, read the article, it's all there. I am not a proponent of the death penalty, mistakes can be made AND it's a cop out, let a human sit in between grey walls for the rest of their lives, THAT is punishment.

Poor girl. I hope they got the right guy and at least some justice can be served.

who killed should be killed , this is justice to stop this in japan , many people are killing each other cause law allowed them by poor justice, why a killer take only 5 years old , why don t give him or her almost 30 years old in prison or more to stop this murder around japan

justice in japan is poor

Well, if he is telling the truth, that is just one more reason why you make darned sure your date gets home okay.

But I doubt he is telling the truth.

There is no question that murderers deserve death, but that does not change the fact that killing is wrong. Life in prison will do that job that is required just fine. It will punish him, it will prevent a next time, and it will serve as a warning to others. Killing him might do that too, but it also sends the dubious message that sometimes killing is right, even outside of immediate self defense. Well, it isn't.

Exactly, death penalty is useless and way too easy for these sub-humans... LET HIM ROT IN PRISON, HAVE RODENTS FOR COMPANY AND COCKROACHES FOR DINNER.

They always charge the murderers with "abandoning the body" before they charge them with murder.

YongYang, I think the fingerprints thing was added later (or I missed it). in that case he looks pretty gulty, but he still deserves a fair trial. If he is found guilty, then let him rot in jail

Or even better, put a noose around his neck, and drop him.

No, death penalty is way too lenient and merciful for such scum like this "guy". Give him "LIFE" in prison. Every night, let him see the victim's face for the rest of his pathetic life, now that's a real PUNISHMENT.
