27-year-old man dies after being found beaten, stabbed in Tokyo park

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was found in a park in Tokyo's Minato Ward on Tuesday morning, having apparently suffered stab wounds and a severe beating to his entire body. The man died later, police said.

The victim has been identified as Mamoru Matsue, 27. According to police, Matsue called a friend at 6:30 a.m. and said he was in trouble in the park in Higashi-Shimbashi. His friend and a companion got to the park around 7:30 a.m. and found Matsue sitting on the ground with his legs stretched out in front of him, unconscious. They took him to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead at 1:15 p.m. Matsue's body reportedly showed injuries consistent with him having suffered a large number of blows to his arms and legs. There were also stab wounds on his body.

His shoes, wallet and cell phone were not found at the scene, leading police to believe that he was probably assaulted at another location before being moved to the park.

Or perhaps he was assaulted/robbed and the perp(s) now have them?

my guess is he was rolled up into a ball while he was being wailed upon.

How can you make a phone call while being stabbed and beaten? If you could, why not call 119?

It is better to call your friends than 119. They take way too long to get there. R.I.P.

I suggest running for the next dude.

I think that when he called his friends he was being followed and took the precaution of calling a trusted friend. It is sad of the state the world is in these days.

Had to call before the beating. But why would the gang allow him his one phone call. He should have called his parents then the police.

Beaten to a bloodied pulp in the early hours of the morning for what? Some trivial slight on some egoistical prat? Sounds like he was beaten with bats too!

If ever in a bad situation and need help in a hurry just call the fire dept and tell them there is a fire, they will always come quicker than the cops and often the sound of the sirens will scare the perps off, but either way loads of guys will arrive in minutes so help will be close.

One hour ... must be a hell of a drive. The phone provider's call-log could be a good start to check this claim.

Not to worry, the JT armchair detectives are on the case. Fact is, we know nothing about what happened; the speculations here are worth the pixels on the screen.

So who was this poor man?

I have a problem with this. Something's not right. He calls his friend to say he's in trouble in THAT park, then loses his phone - presumably during the assault. So what could possibly make the police believe he was assaulted elsewhere THEN brought to the park?

If I remember correctly, similar things have happened a few times in recent years.

Probably he is a victim of some kinda revenge, money or women must be the cause behind his death.

Sooo funny. I thoink they are better than the JT armchair love hotel visitors :)

i do not understand how the guy was able to call but after that he had no cell phone.

I would say it is likely that the phone, etc was taken off him(stolen) while he was waiting for his friends. Don't think he would have been in a state to prevent it.

How is that for armchair detecting?
