Police in Tokyo have arrested a 28-year-old man on suspicion of killing his 61-year-old mother at her home in Hachioji.
Police said the suspect, Takashi Hara, of no fixed occupation, has admitted to the charge but claims that his mother, Michiko Matsui, told him she wanted to die, Sankei Shimbun reported. Hara said his mother was physically disabled and psychologically in bad shape.
According to police, Hara, who lives in Taito Ward, went to his mother’s apartment early Sunday morning and strangled her with his hands. At around 9 a.m., he then went to his 34-year-old brother’s house in Chiyoda Ward and said he had killed their mother. The two brothers went back to their mother’s apartment and the older brother called 119.

Individuals lacking quality of life should be given the right to die peaceful, then this guy wouldn't have to be in this position.

that is what most murders are. stranger on starnger murders are very very rare. The most dangerous men in a woman's life are her partner and other family members.

Physically and mentally disabled. Son visiting mother regularly. No fixed occupation doesn’t mean unemployed. Perhaps there is some true to his story. Not our place to play judge, jury, executioner. We just don’t have all the facts. This is the big problem with internet info. We act on what we read, not what we know.

My great aunt called me over to her chair and specifically requested on several occasions that if she became incapacitated for any reason I should make sure the doctor would end it for her. She demanded that I promise I would.

Wow! Such an obliging son. I guess we’ll never know if she requested it or if he was just sick and tired of looking after her, so he killed her, which seems to happen pretty regularly in Japan.

As awfull as these news are, not everyone can actually place themselves in the shoes of those involved. For those who can't, I'd suggest you watch a Keisuke Kinoshita film from the 50s called "The Ballad of Narayama" (or read the novel instead...). It doesn't explain anything, but that's the case with many things related to death: they are beyond mere explanation, but they still make sense.

I've known this lady who is wheelchair bound, has a fake leg from a motorcycle accident and is psychologically disabled from one of these stupid wars the USA has been for the past 19 years. She told me one time she wanted to die but I sure as hell didn't kill her, nor would I even want to. And most people in such situations really don't want to die.
There is no excusing this guy's action, it's murder. Cart his butt off to prison!
