Too bad this type of crime is never prosecuted in Japan, it would greatly decrease the cost of living here.

Still those green Takata Racing seat belts are good!

So what do they get in return for agreeing to plead guilty? No fine for the company, or what?

Price Fixing? Is that how Ford & Chevrolet answer up to competitive pricing?

This is so atrocious...

What about Shell, Chevron, and Exxon/Mobil's indictments to their executives for price fixing?

They say the all grades of gas prices are more expensive in the summer vs the winter because they use a different refining method per season making it cheaper in the winter & more expensive in the summer.

I know a guy that works at a Houston oil refinery, and he says that's BS. He says they refine the same crude oil the same way all year round. The only difference is the grade of crude oil burn off in order to achieve Regular, Mid Grade, or Supreme Unleaded - but those are sold all year round.

So, why aren't the Oil Executives facing prison time for price fixing?

You know why gasoline is more expensive in the summer? Because you have to use A/C and your car engine burns more gasoline to run your A/C unit, therefore, you expend fuel faster. This prompts you to go back to the gas station more often than any other time of the year, and get more gasoline.

They know this, therefore, they jack up the gas prices in the summer. Isn't that price fixing?

In the winter time, do not need to use your AC unit as you would in the summer and your heater runs on an electric unit that burns much less energy than your AC unit, therefore, they drop the gas prices in the winter, because they're not going to make as more as they would in the summer.

Price Fixing?

It's such a double standard to punish a foreign auto maker and not the most corrupt entity in the world - The Oil and Gas Company's.

@sake: Price fixing is not product pricing.

@Elburaq" Not car companies. Takata cheated car companies. Car companies were victims. Takata is not car a car company.
