3 men detained in Britain over 2015 jewelry store robbery in Tokyo

I'm not sure why this is suddenly all over the news. They've had 2 of the men for at least a year and there is nothing reported as having developed in all these reports, unless they have just found the third man but none of them mention that.

The three Britons must have thought they’d got away with it. Now they’ve learned the hard way that crime doesn’t pay and the law will get you in the end.

They should not be extradited. There is no agreement.

There is no such thing as a fair trail in Japan, 

"Fair" is a relative term, and "not fair" is a term exclusively bleeted by the guilty.

Japan's judicial system, for all it's quirks is sound enough to be recognized by other nations.

the men,s defense has been arguing that a hand over could raise human rights concerns.

Probably because Japan doesnt want to have to deal with complaints being made about it's archaic laws and system of "justice".

Then why does Japan only have extradition agreements with only two other nations? Incidentally, I don't think that Lebanon recognises Japan's judicial system to be sound.

Losers. They should of hid away until ten years after the crime. Then they are free of prosecutions under the statute of limitations.

If they committed the crime(which the security footage indicates), then they should do the time in the relevant jurisdiction.

Under the British judicial system, an offence is usually tried in the jurisdiction in which it took place.

Usually, but not always. Certain offences can be tried in the UK even if the offence was committed outside of the UK.

They won’t be tried in the UK for this. Japan will have to go through the courts to try and extradite them.

Having an extradition treaty has nothing to do with it. The UK does not have one with Japan but Scotland Yard works with the Tokyo Metropolitan Police. Interpol recognizes Japan's judicial system and issues red notices on Japan's behalf. Incidentally, few if any countries consider Lebanon as a country to be sound.

Not to condone what these three have done, but I find it interesting that it is demanded that they be brought back to Japan for trial for theft, whereas meanwhile the recently-deceased psycho-cannibalistic-murderer Issei Sagawa, who murdered, raped, and ate a Dutch woman while he was in France, got to come back to Japan and live out the rest of his life without any penalty whatsoever - heck, as a celebrity, even!

More important than getting the three men is:

Getting the jewels or their money's worth back.

There is no such thing as a fair trail in Japan, so I hope they are not extradited. If the UK decides that there is sufficient evidence to prosecute, then they should be tried in the UK where they will be treated fairly.

With the crime committed thousands of miles away and language barriers in the mix, I would expect the alleged perps to get off
