3 family members found dead in Ibaraki in suspected murder-suicide

Three members of a family have been found dead in their home in Shirosato, Ibaraki Prefecture, in what police believe was a murder-suicide.

According to police, the three adult bodies were found in the first-floor living room of the two-story house at around 4:10 p.m. Thursday, Sankei Shimbun reported. The bodies were found after a neighbor contacted police on Thursday morning and said he hadn’t seen any of the family ― a woman in her late 70s and her two children, a son and daughter, aged in their late 30s and early 50s ― for at least a week.

Police went to the house and found one person had been hanged, another was lying on the floor and the third body was slumped on a sofa. They did not release any further information on how two of the family died or which one had died of hanging.

Police said all three appeared to have been dead for about a week. The house showed no signs of having been ransacked. The doors and windows were locked.

Why is this news, what valuable info. does this contribute to your readers? I wish you would start publishing HAPPY news and EVENTS, like funny or comedy stories, and not death.

@Mark There is no such thing as HAPPY news in Crime section. If you want comedy stories, go to entertainment section.

I am not suggesting stopping reporting about crime, but I have to agree with Mark... WTF are these news on the front page??? What did we learn from this story? Nothing. No backstory, no investigative journalism, no nothing. Just a horror story to keep the sick-minded ones entertained.

@Keisha Lei Togores I would actually much prefer the opposite. Have the entertainment section on front page, and let the sick individuals find their gruesome entertainment in the crime section if they wish to do so.

Not to mention that on other sites which actually take journalism seriously they offer help for the individuals in need in form of mental care service helplines and other contact details at the end of each such article.

They aren't. That's just a distorted impression you've taken on after reading stories about them.

This is a problem of humanity, not just Japan. It's sad wherever it happens.

You’ve got to admire the capacity for Doublethink of those who demand censorship of news that contradicts one narrative (Safety Country) in the name of “denying entertainment to sick minded ones” yet who never allow themselves to be assailed by doubt when others, demanding reciprocal prohibition of news they consider offensive to whatever pet cause they cherish, demand we also mimic the three simians of Nikko.

I don't see anyone in this thread demanding censorship. Whom exactly are you railing against?
