Disillusioned
So, what would be a punishment befitting the crime? Send them to Sendai and have them collecting and burying bodies?
TheBigRiceBowl
I wonder what THEIR excuse will be:
"We needed it so we could eat at Yoshino-ya for a month."
Gurukun
Disillusioned, I feel your anger, however, they don't deserve to touch the innocent bodies that still require a burial up there. I say, give them hand tools, gloves and garbage bags and make them keep cleaning the rubble until the job is complete.

At 22 shouldn't they realize they're on camera at almost every store they walk into? I guess they might not be the sharpest criminals.

Best thing for these guys is community service for a month or so in the disaster stricken areas.
They will soon learn a thing or two and why the box was put there in the first place.
smithinjapan
Agree with posts above -- they should be sentenced to community work in the devastated areas.
my2sense
Last I checked young Japanese guys are invincible, ichiban and immune to anything after a few beers or grape chuhis.
Kapuna
Agree with linro, community service, until the entire mess is cleaned up.
TokyoGas
Community service actually sounds like the best way for this.

Agree with posts above -- they should be sentenced to community work in the devastated areas.
But what you are forgetting is, by the time the Japan justice system get anything done, the entire area hit will be cleaned up.
cwhite
wow, split 3 ways they can party at a cheap izakaya. Just send them over with some shovels to help clean up.
sengoku38
Send them to Fukushima!
azamunis
yea, janitorial work in Fukushima, but, what if they steal things from there too... :-?
the_odeman
what are they gonna still from Fukushima? the radiation?
Gurukun
Don't know what they can steal from Fukushima, but when they get thirsty after cleaning some rubble.....I know where to get some water they can drink.

So, each of these low-life's got a criminal record for 5,333 yen, and now they have to give up the 5,333 yen.
Patricia Yarrow
A lot of crime is just this pathetic, and yeah, the Japanese legal system now has an eternal outlet for criminals: cleaning up Tohoku.
Joshua Ellison
Give them each two to the head.
Ken Adachi
Free cleanup crew ready and willing! or spend time in jail.
mrjack
NO WAY..the above is too easy for them, they should tie them to a pole near the crosswalk in central shibuya with a banner around their necks saying these are the 3 who stole the donation money for fukushima people, and then send them up there to clean up.
NAME AND SHAME I SAY!!!!!!
BurakuminDes
These three truly are the scum of Japan. We can only wish them misfortune and bad karma wherever they go - for the rest of their miserable lives.
