Three men have been arrested in Ikeda, Gifu Prefecture, for stealing fire hose nozzles.

According to police, the three men, who are from Nagoya, have admitted to the charge and said that they had taken the professional-grade fire hose nozzles with the intention of reselling them, TV Asahi reported Friday.

Police confiscated approximately 450 nozzles and other stolen items from the home of one of the men, Katsuhiko Matsumoto, 33.

Authorities said that over 1,000 hose nozzles have been stolen in the past year within the Seino region of Gifu Prefecture.

China needs more metal!

These guys should at least think of what they steal. If a fire broke out and fire hoses can't be used properly, there might be casualties =.=

When the story first appeared, I thought it was the most bizarre metal-stealing crime I'd read about and wondered how long it would take to catch whoever did it. Glad to see they were finally caught.

scrap metal Brass is fetching 452yen per kilo as of November

450 nozzles weighing at ? would be a nice bit of pocket money.

yes probably brass strait nozzles, companies bought them years ago and forgot about them, updated nozzles are plastic, fog nozzles much better for firefighting

however companies are only concerned over the insurance premiums and replacement costs and the thief does not care about anything- including people who get caught in a fire
