Police in Tokyo have arrested three men on suspicion of kidnapping, robbery and assault after they forced a man into their car, beat him and robbed him before letting him go in January last year.

According to police, the incident occurred at around 3 a.m. on Jan 30, 2020, Sankei Shimbun reported. The 42-year-old victim, who is a bar manager, had just arrived home in Nishi-Azabu when the three men forced him into their vehicle, placed a plastic bag over his head and punched his face.

Police said the three suspects ― Akira Matsunaga, 42, from Tokyo, Yukihiro Nomoto, 40, a Yokohama resident, and Yuji Inukai, 27, from Saitama Prefecture ― stole 600,000 yen in cash and a Rolex watch from their victim, as well as the keys to his home. They then entered his home and stole a safe containing about 20 million yen and precious metals.

Police said the gang drove their captive around for about three hours before releasing him at 6 a.m. on a street in Ichikawa City, Chiba Prefecture. A passerby noticed the injured man and called 119. The victim suffered serious facial injuries, including a broken nose, which took about three months o heal.

Police said the victim told them he did not know any of his attackers. Matsunaga is current serving a prison sentence for another robbery he committed last year. The other two suspects were arrested on Wednesday.

Soiunds like this was put together by someone close to the victim who knew he has money at home and oon his person. The police should be asking "Who's paying you?"

Thirteen months later, there is little chance that any of the 20 million yen and precious metals are recoverable.

Scoundrels!

How did they know that the mark had all this cash in his house?

Wonder how the police found them 13 months after the crime. Better late than never of course.
