3 men who posed as women on dating apps arrested over assault and robbery

Osaka Prefectural Police have arrested three men on suspicion of assault and robbery after they posed as women on a dating app and assaulted a male victim whom they lured to a meeting for a date.

Yuya Mikami, 22, a construction worker whose address is unknown, and two unemployed minors, were arrested on Tuesday, Sankei Shimbun reported. Police said the incident occurred on Jan 13 along a road in Miyakojima Ward. The three suspects allegedly punched an 18-year-old man in the face and stole his shoulder bag, which contained about 20,000 yen in cash. The victim was not seriously injured in the incident.

Police said the suspects would pose as women on dating apps and contact unsuspecting male victims to lure them out on dates. While the 18-year-old victim was waiting to meet his “date,” the two minors approached him and said, “We know you’re here to meet a woman.” When the man attempted to run away, Mikami showed up and assaulted him.

Police are investigating whether Mikami is a member of a loosely organized crime group and questioning his accomplices on how many other men they have duped.

You do realize that women are not going to send personal photos to a stranger, do you? It is non-starter.

It’s refreshingly nice to hear you speaking from a position of experience.

Make that: scammers do.

No, women I know do this.

But let's skip all that, I'm going to go back to your original comment:

Do you not know what Tinder is? Not only do thousands and thousands of women world-wide their personal photos to strangers, they often post them in their profile publicly.

This is why people should ask for a strange pic to verify that they are actually talking to a girl. For example ;

And if you are asking for photo that does not show a persons body, the scammers can do that too.

Next idea?

Please sent me a verification pic of you holding your TV remote in your left hand while looking up and standing on only your right leg.

See how that would work out!

What are you talking about? Women send nudes to guys they haven't met on dating apps literally millions of times a day.

Is there a new society class going rampant based on scamming and assaulting people ?

They sent a heck of a lot more than that when I was still in the game, and I doubt women are more modest today than they were then.

Not these scammers. They were clowns. There are guys who do this more professionally - you can visit websites where they talk shop and trade tips if you are curious. It's an amusing read.

Tinder is a dating app. That is a different animal

Maybe it got hacked, all those swipe lefts were fake. Don’t feel bad, demand a recount.
