31-year-old man arrested for abusing 9-year-old son

Police in Sanda, Hyogo Prefecture, said Monday they have arrested a 31-year-old man on suspicion of abusing his 9-year-old son.

Yusuke Tsuruoka, a company employee, has admitted to the charge, police said. He was quoted as saying he lost his temper because he didn't like his son's "attitude toward life," Sankei Shimbun reported.

According to police, the incident occurred around 6 p.m. on Saturday. Tsuruoka punched his son in the face and abdomen at their home, inflicting minor injuries on the boy.

A neighbor noticed the boy standing outside his home at around 5:50 p.m. and notified the police after she suspected he was being “forced to stand outside” as punishment. When police arrived at the Tsuruoka residence, the boy told them police he had been “beaten by his dad.”

Tsuruoka lives with his wife, 26, son and four-year-old daughter.

Props to the neighbor. Here's hoping the boy finds a loving home.

Nothing like a punch in the face to improve your attitude towards life, dumbass

Well, dislussioned, that is the problem. The kids believe it is their fault, get married and the cycle repeats itself.

And this thug would be the first one to complain if his kids get bullied at school. Sadly, this is not an isolated incident. I've worked with teenagers for many years in Japan and some of the horror stories I have been told are truly frightening. I remember one 15 year old girl who came to school with a black eye. She confided in me that she had a fight with her mother. Of course, she begged me not to take any action or report it to anyone. She also confided that it was quite a common thing. Nearly all have stories of being starved, locked on balconies in winter, locked in cupboards, regular beatings with all kinds of household equipment and a few really horrible stories like being scolded with hot water and thrown into cold showers. Japanese kids don't lie about this kind of stuff. Most of them believe it was their fault and they deserved it. That is the real problem!

@pointtofview - Thrown into a cold shower isn't a big deal

Are you serious? I don’t know which backwater hovel you grew up in, but that is physical abuse.

Pretty high expectations to have to have your whole life figured out by age 9.

Why doesn't this "Creep" pick on someone his own age, rather than child?

@do the hustle,

Not even close to the other stuff. Scalding water or a cold shower? Big difference. I have three kids but I don't have to do such things. It's not how I parent.
