Police in Mitaka, Tokyo, have arrested a 31-year-old man for attempted murder after he hit his father with a baseball bat.
According to police, the incident occurred on March 6. TV Asahi reported that company employee Hiroshi Furuto attempted to murder his sleeping father by hitting him with a bat, and also injured his mother, who tried to stop him, by breaking her hand. Police said the father suffered injuries that will take two weeks to heal.
Furuto's father suffered from dementia, police said. Furuto was quoted by police as saying he had become exasperated over his father's condition, but denied wanting to kill him.

Exasperated by his father's dementia. If only there were more of a support system or a 21st century way of dealing with mental illness and issues compassionately instead of feeling ashamed about them or largely ignoring them and pretending they don't exist because they're unpleasant. Nah, what would that accomplish?

I totally agree. Japan is a ticking time bomb in this respect.

I was always taught not to bite the hand that feeds you. This guy would never be here on this earth without his parents.
