32-year-old woman arrested for strangling her mother in Tochigi

Police in Utsunomiya City, Tochigi Prefecture, said Monday they have arrested a 32-year-old woman on suspicion of strangling her 61-year-old mother at their home.

According to police, Yuko Ono strangled her mother Shigeko with a cord at around 9 p.m. Sunday, Fuji TV reported. Ono called police who rushed to the scene.

Ono's mother was taken to hospital where she died a short time later.

Ono was quoted by police as saying that she and her mother had been in a heated argument at the time of the incident.

Heated argument and she can not remember what she did = few days in jail

That's one family murder reported every day for the last week. I see a pattern forming.

There seems to be a hell of a lot of intra-familial murder and violence in Japan.....

It's sad to read about but I don't think this happens in any higher percentile than other places, like the US. Japan is just so small in size that what would be deemed "local" and maybe only on the state's local news channel in the US is on a much larger more nationalized news channel in Japan. That being said, I hope this lady gets more than just a slap on the wrist, murder is still murder.

Me too! I didn't realize that other people also saw this pattern of reporting family murders in the news. I thought it was just me.

Does she insane? I can't believe what I read in JT. There are many homicide crimes committing on parent by their own children. What kinds of society Japanese peoples live in today?

Except for the fact that Japan is about the size of California and Calibwould be the 5th richest economy if treated as a separate entity

Parents should teach their kids "Don't kill the parent."
