A 28-year-old woman who was strangled to death in Sakaiminato City, Tottori Prefecture, in July 2011, was pregnant at the time, police have revealed.
New details about the murder emerged on Monday following the arrest over the weekend of Fumiaki Araki, 34, who has been charged with strangling Miho Onishi with a nylon cord on the rooftop of the office of a closed gasoline station on July 15, 2011, Fuji TV reported.
According to police, while dating Onishi, Araki was reportedly in a relationship with another woman. He broke off his relationship with Onishi, who is believed to have been pregnant with Araki’s child, and married the other woman two weeks after Onishi’s death.
Police said Araki has admitted to killing Onishi and quoted him as saying trouble ensued between the two over Onishi’s pregnancy.

Is this considered a double murder in japan?

He murdered a pregnant woman, and two weeks later married somebody else. What a POC. I ran into a guy like this years ago in the military. He was a dependant husband, and his wife was a very pregnant captain. He used to denigrate her in front of others all the time. His wife decided to kill herself, drove her car into the garage, closed the door, left the engine running, and went to sleep. Her and her full-term baby. When we told him what she had done, the first thing out of his mouth was "Can I call my girlfriend now?"

His wife is lucky. The guy sleeping next to her was a killer and he finally got caught.

A couple of Hundred Yen for some condoms and this relationship would of had a different outcome. Hope he gets charged for two murders but I think that all depends on how far along Miho Onishi was in her pregnancy. I hope he hangs so he can feel the rope squeeze the life out of him and so he can feel what Miho felt as he tightened the nylon cord around her neck.

This is a strange case. I read on a Japanese site that Onishi's parents didn't report her missing until 2014 - that's three years after she was killed. I wonder where they thought she was between 2011 and 2014, even if she wasn't living at home.
I also wonder how the police got onto Araki after eight years.

In any country this would depend on what value is placed on the unborn. It it simply a blob of tissue which can be aborted? Or is it a human life with has value and rights?
