34-year-old teacher arrested for raping elementary school girl in Chiba

Police have arrested a 34-year-old teacher at an elementary school in Chiba City’s Chuo Ward on Wednesday on charges of raping a school girl.

Wataru Yagi is accused of raping the underage girl on July 17, police said. The victim is a resident of the city and is under the age of 13, according to police, but other details of her background — including whether she was a student at the school Yagi worked or not — were kept from the media as the case is still under investigation, sources reported.

The case surfaced when the girl told her parents about the sexual assault after returning home and her mother immediately contacted the police. Police have been looking for ways to apprehend Yagi and finally gathered enough evidence to arrest him this Wednesday.

I'm glad this scumbag got arrested. If he is guilty he'll reveal it by digging his own ditch. It's very hard to cover up a crime like this with a bunch of lies. If he is convicted then his true colors should show. A guy I went to HS with served a 12 year sentence for rape shortly after graduation. After his release, he did it again numerous times and upon conviction he really kicked up a fuss in the courtroom. It was on local TV.

A choir teacher was convicted for the same and man, and he totally went so nuts, they had to drag him out of the courtroom. He got a 35 year sentence.

Bill Cosby exploded upon his recent conviction. That's a clear sign of guilt.

Like in my previous post, if a preteen child talks about something 'funny', 'weird' or 'icky', you'd better listen.

SlickdrifterAug. 3 03:22 pm JSTYou have to believe deep inside there must be a special place in hell and damnation for rapist of our young females around the globe. You know what they do to men of this nature in American prisons right? It is time to for Japan to have the same system like America has. You have to report who you are I think. I am not so sure how it really works but if your a pedophile. People around you in your community and the schools. Are notified a sexual offender is living close by. Like I said not really sure how that works.

Sex offenders are registered on local city lists. They can be looked up on Internet databases. They are NOT allowed to live within a certain limit near a school. They must register with the authorities on their living status on a monthly basis from then on. Of course the more influential 'pillars of the community' types tend to make the law turn their heads sometimes.

This is potentially a 12 yr old girl we are talking about, so you have to factor that in. Maybe the teacher didnt look upon her favorably, or didnt take to her in class. Can't be so quick to convict. But if there was physical evidence then it shouldn't take more than a day.

You have got to be joking. You are actually accusing a child of lying about sexual abuse - do you have any idea the kind of harm that can do? Or is your misogyny so rampant that you don't care?

Sad to say, victim-blaming is very rampant. I agree - a 12 year old or younger isn't really 'mature' or 'developed' or even 'knowing' enough to concoct such 'wild' stories like a sexual assault. They are often shamed into silence and this fear of not being believed leads to a heavy burden inside that stays like a time bomb years after a war is over.

Sexual assault leaves more than 'physical evidence'. The scars it leaves are mental and psychological too and they are very serious.

There are MANY ways a person can be raped, and that goes for males too. Boys and even men get raped too. It's all about fear, power and domination. When the burden is too much the consequences can be destructive. A person who gets sexually abused needs help NOW. A person who is lying can be detected fairly easily if the story doesn't measure up. On the other hand, a child is too confused to even 'cook up' a story like a rape - so when (s)he talks about being subjected to a 'weird' experience of that nature, you'd better believe that the child is telling the truth!

That teacher is a sick monster. Put him away!

Not to be a teacher for much longer then....

How is a 13 y/o still in elementary school...

Try reading the sentence again.

Simon g: a certain guy is just linguistically incapable of understanding certain words. Highlighting in bold alone was not enough; you should have explained what "under" means, not to mention the so much longer and far more complex phrase "under the age of" making it all too hard for the guy to comprehend.

Simon g

yet the headline said “primary school “.

Try reading the sentence again. And it's a very long sentence. Probably longer than the perp will get.

*"The victim is a resident of the city and is under the age of 13, according to police, but other details of her background — including whether she was a student at the school Yagi worked or not — were kept from the media as the case is still under investigation, sources reported".*

oh damn i forgot we got top grade fbi investigators with several decades worth of experience solving rape crimes in the comment section of this site. guess that's the last time i ever question the authority of an anonymous stranger's estimate for crime-solving!

the girl's testimony and physical evidence was not enough?

But if there was physical evidence then it shouldn't take more than a day.

Maybe they needed to find who and where he was before arresting him ? Nothing in the article says the girl knew the perp.

Isn’t that age usually associated with middle school.

Horrific. I bet he's done something like this before.

So the girl's testimony and physical evidence was not enough?

They did not have evidence before they arrested him. Only the girls testimony.

2 ( +6 / -4 )

it took them 2 weeks to gather evidence!
