Police in Zama, Kanagawa Prefecture, have arrested a 34-year-old unemployed woman on suspicion of attempting to kill her 30-year-old unemployed brother at their home.

According to police, Memi Kaneko stabbed her brother Sho in the shoulder at around 11:40 p.m. on Tuesday, Kyodo News reported. The siblings live with their parents who are in their 60s.

Their mother heard a scream coming from Sho’s room and called 110 after she saw him bleeding from the shoulder. The victim was taken to hospital where doctors said his wound was not life-threatening.

Kaneko left the house right after the stabbing and police found her about 500 meters away. Police said she has admitted to stabbing her brother and quoted her as saying she hated him.

Nothing to do and nowhere to go. - Something may have been brewing between these siblings for quite a while now and she perhaps had had enough.

Plus, still living with mom & dad in their 30’s and lack of current employment was probably an equal stressor.

Pressure cooker home life. Reason children need to leave the nest and stand on their own two feet. It may not be easy, money may be tight but it’s character building and the easy alternative is much worse, as this case highlights.

Yes, @zichi, that may be true but can’t recall any posts here about their children trying to murder each other.

Granted, it’s ALWAYS nice to have family around when every adult contributes to the household.

Some are even single parents.

Regardless, they all can be very proud of how they raise them.

Everything happens for a reason, we don't know the reason behind WHY the sister hated her brother we can only assume. We don't live in their home. We only make ASSumption based on WHATt we read and not WHAT we know.

My younger sister and I both lost our jobs maybe a decade ago around the same time and moved back in with mom and dad. It was humiliating for both of us but the folks were happy to have the kids back in the house. We stayed for about 6 months till we got back on our feet. My sister and I don’t always get along but I don’t know what you have to do to make your sister want to kill you.

That’s more related to sick or violent mindsets, not to unemployment or less money. Rich people or busy ones also sometimes commit similar capital crimes and have the same family internet twists.

Both unemployed... If she hates his brother why not leave the house and separate from them?

They were probably arguing over which one is the lazier of the two. If they were out working and contributing to society instead of freeloading on their parents, this may not have happened.
