35 year-old-man arrested for exposing himself to schoolgirls

Police in Tokyo said Saturday that a 35-year-old man has been arrested after he was caught exposing himself in front of a young middle school-aged girl on a roadside in Edogawa Ward.

According to police, Akira Imazu, of Sumida Ward and an employee in the food and drink services industry, was charged with public indecency. TV Asahi reported that at around 8 a.m. on May 21, Imazu exposed himself in front of a young girl riding her bicycle to school.

Police said Imazu had cut a hole in the crotch of his pants before going out.

Following his arrest, Imazu was quoted by police as saying, "I got a thrill out of showing girls my exposed parts. I've done it almost 10 times this year alone."

I was drunk and I don't remember a thing.

What an urge, that he had to cut his pants. Why not open the zipper?

Young girls should learn the "response" to those crazies - Stare at "it" then say : "Kawai sou ! (you poor thing) Chiisai né !"

Whether I consider exposure harmless or not depends on how its done.

Walking down the street with your junk hanging out? Okay.

Actually making efforts to get noticed, like waving your hands at passersby? That is assault unless you have a reason, like needing help or warning others of danger.

Jumping at people and suddenly opening your coat or other moves that could be interpreted as an imminent attack? Aggravated assault.

It all becomes clear when you just remove the sexual aspect. Never mind that. Its not actually the important part. I don't care that some girl saw a part of his birthday suit. I care that he assaulted her (as opposed to battered) if that is what he did.

@ Fighting Viking The girls should say to him oh my a human earth worm!

They caught him by following the sound of girls laughing.

Akira Imazu, of Sumida Ward and an employee in the food and drink services industry,

I shudder to think of what other perversions this guy indulged in.

In the event Imazu tastes change for girls in their mid 20s, I'll have my taser ready for target practice, it's all down to reducing the thrill factor.

Exactly! They should then follow it by going up and kicking the person in said junk (well, okay, maybe not given that the person might have weapons).

Mr. G: "Walking down the street with your junk hanging out? Okay. Actually making efforts to get noticed, like waving your hands at passersby? That is assault unless you have a reason, like needing help or warning others of danger"

Walking down the street with your junk hanging out is not at all okay in a country where there are laws against doing so, as is the case in Japan. Now, if there were some weird reason you 'forgot' to don some underwear and went out of your residence and also unfortunately forgot to zip up and there are some things showing or exposed that for some reason you also don't notice, it MIGHT be possible to apologize sincerely and be ashamed enough to get out of it -- we are all human -- but junk hanging out knowingly or unknowingly is still against the law, and still a form of assault. Suggesting that waving your hands to get attention is assault if unnecessary but that your junk hanging out if not trying to get attention is okay is simply bizarre.

For Akira Imazu the ultimate thrill is the pleasure of being caught, the whole element of taboo smothered any rational thought about the levels of embarrassment or the consequences.

I don't know why people think this is clever. If you say this, you are giving the flasher what he wants, which is a response, and some attention. And the comment is even 100% focused on his private parts, just as he wanted. The best response is to completely ignore the person. If he is so aggressive that ignoring is not possible, a shout out for help or a kick in the groin would be effective.

But, basically, don't engage unless you want to encourage him. Whoever tells people to mock the guy or his size is just giving the worst advice, unless you want to encourage that behavior.

A number of years ago, I believe it was in Seattle, two women encountered such a situation in a fairly public place. They started laughing at the guy, you can imagine exactly what they were focusing on, and chasing him until he got the heck out of there. It was a public place and there were two girls (ladies), not just one isolated somewhere. Considering the circumstances discussed, I have to agree that ignoring him while attempting to safely get out of harm's way would be the smartest thing to do. (It doesn't make a funny story, but the girl's safety is number one.)

This calls to mind the time I was flashed at and thought I should report it to police as its on a well-trodden elementary school route at 4.30 in the afternoon.

the policeman asked for a description and I said "about 6" long, kind of thin, no distinguishing features" and the policeman made careful notes and without looking at me or missing a beat he said "ok, thank you, and...um...his face??"

Oh! That! :-/

Thanks for the news 'flash'.

This happens a lot here in Japan. You'll always find someone who has a story about some guy flashing their junk at them.

This happens in the whole wide world. Shameful.

People are ignorant and indeed saying how hopeless are a perv private parts makes him feel lose his will to continue. Ignoring him is worst to do, as his purpose is to caught and his will to think he is impressive. Those kind of perv are not aggressive, fortunately.

Just life, i teach well my girls and they won t hesitate to do it.

I really don t care that lind of assault, from the distance. Mental issue that authorities close their eyes on ...

Exhibitionism though is more than just a crime, It is also a psychiatric sexual disorder category of paraphilias. As such, he needs to seek help and get professional assistance.

Would that include releasing one's bladder outdoors in the case of us males? I hope they would make an exception because I'm in deep trouble!

Urinating in a public space is still against the law, unless that public place is a public loo.

The reason the other 8 or 9 incidents never got reported is that when asked if she wanted to report it, in each case, the flashed individual shrugged, "Nah. No big thing."

I was working at a JHS here a few years ago when a first-year girl was flashed on her way home. She came back to school and came into the teachers' room with this dazed expression on her face. Her friend told us what happened and a motherly female teacher went over to hug her, at which point she burst into tears and continued sobbing uncontrollably for what seemed like an eternity. It was the single most heartbreaking thing I have ever seen. Anyone who makes light of an incident like this, or fails to see what the fuss is about, does not understand how deeply upsetting and traumatic this can be for a young girl.
