Police in Ikoma, Nara Prefecture, on Thursday arrested a 36-year-old man on suspicion of killing his 8-year-old son at their home.
According to police, Tsuyoshi Okada, a dental technician, physically assaulted his son Yushin at their home on Sept 17. Police said Okada beat Yushin about the head and called 119 the next day at 6:50 a.m. and said his son wasn’t breathing, Fuji TV reported. The boy was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead. Doctors said he had likely died around 4 a.m.
An autopsy showed that Yushin had suffered a fractured skull. Police said Okada has admitted to beating his son.
At the time of the incident, Yushin's mother was also home and police are questioning her about her knowledge of what went on.

Absolutely terrible, No child or person should ever have to go through something so horrible and despicable.

Soooo arrest them both now. Throw them both in jail. Question them later. Maybe next year or before the 2096 Olympics. Whenever you have some free time, I guess.

The generally emotionally removed/conditional love parenting style here in Japan is how many borderline (bpd) and npd people are "made" for lack of a better word. These people are emotionally stunted and have extremely short fuses, and the saddest thing is they grow up and repeat said parenting style with there own kids and the cycle continues.
RIP little man.

Very true; plus the fact that one day they will all be bigger than you :-)

What could an 8 year old child do to provoke or justify a fatal beating?!
Please, build this idea out a little for us all. Or just delete it if you have any sense of shame.

Back in the day some Japanese parents punished and disciplined their children that way.
The father was probably beaten as a child.
It was pretty common at schools or sometimes at the office.
RIP little boy

I can’t think of anything that would justify beating up a kid.
Do you have any possible scenarios?

I'm not against corporal punishment. But a parent needs to show restraint and know how much is too much.
Also, a lot of posters on here are speculating without a clue what it is that prompted this. You guys have no idea what the boy did or didn't do.

I'll second that in a heartbeat.
Same here. Same here. My son is turning 3 next month.
I'm sorry Yushin. I'm sorry that you didn't have a dad like zones or myself, or any of the other empathizing posters here. I'm so sorry you were born to this monster.

I'd say it is more like the poor kid isn't living up to daddy's high educational standards, not getting top marks at school and never going to follow in his foot steps. Seems to be the problem with quite a few of these so called 'professionals'.

For me, there are few if any crimes that are worse and more depraved than a parent physically harming their own child.
Civilized behavior demands that individuals such as this scum (he is not worthy of being called a father or a man) be afforded due process and civilized punishment.
However, there is that part of me that wouldn't mind if he were punished in the same manner as how he killed his son.
I can't wait to see my son this evening and give him a big hug and tell him how much I love him!!
RIP, Yushin.

Japan needs to evolve and improve their mental health system. That guy went nuts, no doubt about it. I don't understand their naivity.

Let me guess, “He wouldn’t eat his dinner so I beat him around the head for discipline.” Just another tragic POS parent. And, the worst thing is, he will most likely get a suspended sentence.
