Police said Thursday they have arrested four high school students on suspicion of beating up a younger student in Tokyo's Katsushika Ward.
According to police, the four youths, all aged 15, beat up a 13-year-old boy who attends the same school, on Nov 30. Police said the victim's injuries took about one week to heal.
TBS reported that they contacted the boy on the free instant message application LINE and took him to a park in Shin-Koiwa and under a bridge where they assaulted him for about three hours from 5 p.m.
The boys were quoted by police as saying they didn't like their victim's attitude because he had used social media to post about an earlier incident in which the foursome had beat up a college student and stolen his wallet.

Time to abolish the Juvenile Law.

Just sad. Even more sad, nothing will happen to them because of their age.

4 beat 1 for 3 hours . These gutless weaklings need to be taught a lesson obviously, charging them as minors is not helping the situation either.

According to the story, this foursome has a history of beating up others. Would a little jail time or counseling help these four? 15 years old and already throwing away any chance at a future. If I had done this, my father would have let me sit in jail and think about what I did.

The 15 year olds are a bunch of thugs that need to be taught a lesson or two.

"...nothing will happen to them because of their age."
Something would damn well happen to them if the were MY kids; they wouldn't be able to sit down for a week for starters.
Then I'd march them round to the victims house in broad daylight and make them publicly apologise.
Why do parent allow their children to do these things without some kind of reprimand? NO child of mine would hit another child for any reason but self-defense.

Well i know what those students future line of work will be.

Another LINE beat-down in the news? They should rename that application BULLY LINE in Japan.

3 hours?
(Well, most people would be dead, or certainly needing more than a week to heal. I guess they were shouting at him and slapping him around for most of the time, then gave him a stomping at the end.)
Still, 3 hours? In a park? Considering most municipal parks in Jpn are the size of half or a quarter of a basketball court, lotsa ppl musta seen it... 3 hours of 4 on 1 and no one intervened or called the cops?

At the very least take their phones away from them. How many times have I seen violence among kids in Japan stemming from a quarrel online.

There are some really evil people in this world and I hope someone put them in their place.

It is great that this is international news though. Imagine living in a country were four 15 year old bullies make international headlines. Wow Japan is so peaceful and crime free. I am loving it. But at the same time, I wonder if this blatant lack of crime and violence - as testified by the fact that bullies make international headlines - may be linked to the poor economic performance, and general lack of gumption and resolve?
