Police in Akiruno, western Tokyo, said Tuesday they have arrested four teenagers on suspicion of beating up a man and robbing him last October.

According to police, the four suspects, who cannot be named because they are minors, attacked the 32-year-old company employee who was on his way home. TV Asahi reported that they beat him with metal bats and then stole 6,000 yen in cash.

Police identified them from the motor bikes which they left at the scene.

Police were quoted as saying that three of the four suspects have admitted to the crime and said they did it because they wanted money.

"Police in Akiruno, western Tokyo, said Tuesday they have arrested four teenagers on suspicion of beating up a man and robbing him last October."

These little punks need to do hard time and repay the man 100x for what they did.

So they each got 1,500yen out of it and left their motor bikes that cost how much at the scene?..................good work lads :-/

Singapore has the answer - give 'em 10 of the best with a rattan cane and send them on their way. I guarantee if Japan followed that model you'd see a precipitous drop in this type of bs punk crime. Or take it a step further and give their parents 10 lashes as well. Family therapy made cheap, brutal and effective.

What a pack of scum.

So tell me why the legal age is so damn high again. Name and shame them.

Pretty poor takings for the thugs. am i wrong in feeling that we hear more reports of "random" street crime over the last 18 months or so?

If they wanted money why didn't they just get a part time job. 6,000 yen split four ways is only 1,500 yen each. Total idiots.

Public humiliation in the stocks, we know these little 'hardmen' hate nothing more than losing face.

Each punk got 1,500 yen.

Disillusioned, as for the strange week, this incident happened in October.

I believe these youths can turn around and grow up to be decent adults and shielding them from their responsibilities and deserving punishments will not help at all. Sounds like it was an unprovoked and cowardly attack and I hope they will be properly punished!

Nice boys, obviously. They should be rewarded appropriately, with a beating in kind.

Not the parents... they didn't do the crime, their feckless offspring did, so THEY need to be punished. From what I've seen there are a number of Japanese lads who develop this weird persona where they turn into mindless yobs at a certain age... they argue with (and in extreme cases KILL) their parents, steal, stay out all night and generally become punks. The parents give in to these boys, possibly afraid of them, making them overly cocky to the point where they roam the streets and beat people for fun. The parents of kids like these need support, not punishment.

I think they should do what some other countries do. Make them serve a mandatory 2 or 3 years in the navy or military before they can go to college

I like DBR's thinking , been to Singapore many times, you'd be hard pressed to find a gum blotch on the street there, people believe that psych babble gets through to kids. We've been seeing all around the world how "effective" that really is. I remember a steel toed boot connecting with my rear a few times ...never made that mistake again ! Created a few new others but repetition was out done by reasoning after ...long before I hit teenage years. Cane them...and before anyone piss and moans about this statement think about that poor business man that took a beating for the 6000¥ in his pocket that his wife gave home for his weekly allowance.

'Police identified them from the motor bikes which they left at the scene'... violent as well as stupid!

100X is still only about $6,000.00 Add a couple of zeros!

Prison or SDF!

OK....Don't name them, HANG THEM! The cretins already show what they are capable of....it will only get worse as these psychos age and join the yakuz! Stomp the cockroaches quickly.....they wont spend their lives making daisy chains!

These kids need 10 lashes each in public.

@Thunderbird2

Of course the parents didn't do the crime but that doesn't excuse the parent's responsibility to riase their kids right to begin with.

Or at least make sure the kids are not out beating down some poor bastard with baseball bats. If you're so scared of your kid you can't kick his worthless ass out of the house you lost (or gave up) some time ago. One way or another society has to pay for the worthless spawn of these parents.

Agreed that some turn into yobs; hence the lashing. But maybe if parents were held more accountable people would make sure they really want to have kids in the first place and take more interest in raising their kids. As they used to say in the dojo - 'nothing gets your attention like an ass beating'. If I knew I could get 10 lashes because my kid was out beating people up, uh, yeah, I'd certainly be interested in making sure my kid didn't pull any crap like that.

Teens with bats & motor bikes? Sounds like something from that movie "Akira".

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Is it just me, or shouldn't the police be REALLY interested in four teens riding around on motor bikes and carrying metal bats? Wouldn't that cause the police to be just a LITTLE suspicious?

"If they wanted money why didn't they just get a part time job."

I doubt the motive was money. This was probably something they were told to do, to earn their place in the gang and to get notoriety. If you're aiming to join the yaks, you need to make a name for yourself early.

It's been a weird week in Japan:

4 teenagers arrested for assaulting man with metal bats ( 5 ) Woman attacks high school girl with knife outside apartment ( 21 ) Nagoya couple arrested over death of employee ( 10 ) Woman caught shoplifting hangs herself in supermarket ( 44 ) Businessman suspected of slashing up to 1,000 tires in effort to meet women ( 45 )

"who cannot be named because they are minors"

Why do you need to include that EVERY SINGLE TIME. We get it already. That's pretty standard practice.

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

someone like that cant be changed, its already proven they are too dumb because left their bikes so there is no future for em except low paying kitchen or some criminal jobs... life imprisonment with hard labour is best really.

So let me guess: Orange hair, fugly white jump suits...?
