Police in Yokohama are looking for the person or persons responsible for vandalizing about 40 cars in two parking lots at the end of August.
Police said the cars were damaged in the parking lots of a residential area spanning approximately two kilometers in Hodogaya and Asahi wards on the night of Aug 29 and early Aug 30, Sankei Shimbun reported. The targeted vehicles appeared to have been scratched with a sharp object.
Police said they are examining street surveillance camera footage around the parking lots to try and identify the perpetrator.

I used to park my bike near a train station on a small street along with about 400 others. One day my bike tyre was slashed, along with all the others.
turned out a local resident didn’t like bikes parked so they hired a Yak type to send a message.

I used to park my scooter near a train station too. One day my brake line was cut , and I was going home around 35 km/hr and I noticed the hand brake was out, luckily there was an emergency foot pedal brake and I was able to slow down. Turned out a local hating racist nutcrack (HRN) I'd seen before who was with the craps. I think he also called the lobans on me before, but it was a false flag. This was a long time ago so he may have checked out by now :)

On a daily basis now we read about these sorts of random crimes, and others more violent and frightening. Clearly, some people are in denial about how worse things have gotten over the decades.

I'm guessing when they catch the perp, he'll put it down to "wanting to let off some steam after being bullied at work."

If they catch the person or people involved give then the bills for repairing all of the cars, plus a fine, this will make them think about their actions next time they have a crazy idea.

My and 5-6 other bikes had their seats slashed with (I imagine) a knife, in bicycle parking-there are some sick people out there...
