Forty windows have been smashed at a junior school in Okayama City, police said. The vandalism at Kibi Junior High School in Kita Ward was discovered at around 6:30 a.m. on Monday by the school chef, Sankei Shimbun reported.

Police said 40 windows were smashed in the lunchroom and throughout the school building, sometime during the night of Oct 24 or Oct 25.

Furthermore, the entranceway and corridors of the school building were scattered with fragments of broken glass.

On Monday, the third-year students held an assembly in the gymnasium before heading home. Both the first and second-year students were dismissed from school after attending classes in the morning.

Maybe. Maybe not. There is no indication from the article as to the identity or identities of the perps.

An expression of rage and revenge against the staff and school, I would bet.

In high school, as our senior prank, we bought boxes of diapers, emptied them of their gelling chemical, and put it in the school pool. This resulted in a Jello-like consistency.

The lunchroom? Their school had a lunchroom? That's impressive considering many JHS do not have one, they use their own classrooms to eat.

And that would be the LAST place I would smash, the one place to get away from the classrooms? Brilliant thinking juniors.......

Ive just googled this school and it seems pretty close to houses, so I am surprised that no one heard, not one window, but forty windows breaking.

Back when I taught in junior high some kids started a fire in the boys restroom garbage can, put it out and ran off. There was an assembly later and afterwards students were allowed to anonymously write down anything they knew about the accident. The guilt parties were soon found.

Wonder if the same thing will be done here. Middle school kids are garbage at keeping their mouths shut. Someone will talk. Unless it wasn't actually an inside job. I guess it's not out of the realm of possibility that a rando had the energy smash 40+ windows. If they were the sort with the earthquake wiring? Exhausting.
