Police in Tokyo's Taito Ward said Sunday that a 41-year-old woman was found strangled to death at her apartment on Saturday night.
According to police, the woman's body was found by her 15-year-old junior high school daughter when she returned home from school at about 7 p.m. Saturday, Fuji TV reported. The woman was lying on her side on a sofa bed, covered up to her shoulders with a blanket.
The woman's daughter called 119. The woman was confirmed dead at the scene, police said, adding there were strangulation marks on her neck. There were no signs of a break-in or a struggle in the room, police said.
The girl told police her mother was asleep on the sofa bed when she left for school in the morning. She said her mother was still sleeping on the sofa when she came back home briefly at around 1:30 p.m. but thought nothing was odd until she returned at night.

So true.

We can perhaps deduce that there was no sign of a break-in as someone who had a key did it? Boyfriend perhaps?
Break-ins and home invasions are sadly an accepted part of life in Japan - far different from parts of Europe, the US and the developing world where people leave their front doors unlocked and keys in their cars.
Why else would women routinely avoid renting apartments on the ground floor and prefer auto lock apartments over those without.
My commiserations to the daughter, and I hope that she finds a parental guardian to live with until her education is complete.

You do not need to break into some Japanese homes. They do not lock the doors. I know of some houses which have doors which do not have locks. My Japanese wife goes out of the house (in a foreign country) and leaves the doors not locked! I have tried many times to educate her of the dangers but it looks like she will understand only after a tragedy strikes. That is if it leaves her/us alive.

Maybe not... my ex lives alone with her son, nothing weird about that.

What is it with the preferred strangulation method in Japan? Barely a day/week goes by without hearing of someone being done in that way.
Not a preferred method at all where I come from. Takes a real cold hearted thing to go down that road.

Not a peep about a husband(?)/father. What? Was the child conceived by immaculate conception? No one else live in the house? More details. RIP.

I feel so sorry for the 15-year-old girl who had to come home to that! Praying for her!

Who prepared her breakfast or school meal if any?

It wouldn't be abnormal for me.
Really depends on the person and the family doesn't it.

Um... Sounds mysterious. Hope police will crack the case with any clue.
