Man arrested for locking 2-month-old son in freezer

Police in Osaka have arrested a 42-year-old man on suspicion of child abuse after he locked his two-month-old son inside a freezer operating at minus 18° Celsius.

According to police, the incident occurred between April 15 and 16 last year inside a hotel room in Fukuoka City, where the family was staying, Fuji TV reported. The refrigerator was in the room.

Police said Tatsuji Nishioka, a company employee, was arrested on Monday. He was quoted as saying, “My son is so cute that I just wanted to play a trick on him and had no intention of abusing him.”

The case came to light after a doctor last August diagnosed the baby as having a fractured left thigh and rib. He contacted a child welfare consultation center, which reported the incident to police.

Police conducted a search of Nishioka’s home and found photos and video footage of Nishioka locking his infant son inside the freezer. There was also a video of the infant left lying face down on a table at home.

wow. I hope they lock this guy in a freezer until he freezes to death.

Worthless piece of trash. Jail for a minimum 40 years, please. I hope the scum suffers endlessly, and has a very short life of misery.

The poor little boy should be taken permanently into foster care. Zero contact with that scum.

Crimes against children seem to be escalating these days. While the criminals are likely to be victims of abuse themselves as children, that's no excuse for what they do. Everyone has the choice not to commit a crime.

Throw the book at scum like this.

"A freezer" in a hotel room refrigerator very likely means the little freezer box inside a small refrigerator. I wonder if he broke the poor kid's bones stuffing him in there. Disgusting.

Some people are so messed up

A court-ordered, mandatory, complete forensic psychological testing must be done on this individual before he is ever allowed in the presence of his own child (or other children) again. This is one individual with clear sociopathic tendencies that cannot understand the consequences of his actions and when confronted, make ridiculous excuses:

- “My son is so cute that I just wanted to play a trick on him and had no intention of abusing him.” -

Aside from “peek-a-boo”, what other ‘tricks’ could a two-month-old possibly understand ?

That guy is sick. The wife should divorce him asap.

DO you have children?'Two-months olds do not understand peek-a-boo yet, in fact, they do not understand much other than happiness, hunger, or discomfort. Which certainly includes being stuffed into a freezer.

No news that most of the worst animals are out of our species.

Some individuals need to be put to sleep.

Start with Tatsuji Nishioka.

I´m reading this after watching the video of a New Mexico woman throwing her newborn in the dumpster. As a father of a 5 months baby, I cant even express what I feel.

Fine then @Zaphod 6:20pm. Two-month-olds ‘react’ to “peek-a-boo”. -Studies have shown babies 2 to 4-months-old start to recognize the faces of their primary caregivers. That would perhaps fall in your “happiness” category ??

If the mother is innocent of abuse, then the best outcome for the child's sense of self for the rest of his life, will be to stay with the mother.

Boot the 'father' out, preferably to jail, but definitely away from the victims.

Fortunate this was found before the criminal killed the infant, kudos to the doctor that reported the injuries to the police instead of saving himself the trouble.

I wonder what kind of family is that, the mother was with him in the hotelroom and she did nothing to prevent such a horrible mistreatment of her child?

9 ( +10 / -1 )

Agreed @Mickelicious 7:03pm, but we all know, based on past track records, some of these women are so co-dependent they will let these sociopaths back in the house because the father’s “so cute… and had no intention of abusing him”.

Recall, April to August there’s nothing in the story the mother did anything to report his past and/or continuing abuses. The freezer incident only came to light by the medical professionals noting such fractured bones in baby in August.

Jail time, a probationary halfway house to go back to work when released and then, social-welfare monitored 1 hour visits til he completes some kind of parenting classes. This child is now 10 months old and really don’t think this sociopath can ‘deal’ with a toddler.

This news is disturbing and upsetting !

There was no mention of the child's mother but 4 months after the freezer incident the child's diagnosed with fractures leads me to asume the parent's are both irresponsible and abusive especially the father.

I wish the article informed us that the child's being well cared for from now on.

“My son is so cute that I just wanted to play a trick on him and had no intention of abusing him.”

I wish every pediatrics office had a big sign that said, "Don't play tricks on babies and children." Lots of parents think it is fun or instructive to scare or shame kiddies. If you have ever had the experience you know that you stay afraid for a long time, maybe forever.

WTF ? I am so furious to read news like this. Thank you to that Doctor who alerted the welfare people.

ok, so you put your 2 months old cute son in the freezer to play a trick with him. are your sure it is your 2-month-old son, not the 200.

because yeah, that makes a lot of sense. thank you for the explanation. D*A.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

Utter scum.

2 ( +4 / -2 )

A fractured left thigh? That would take some serious abuse to fracture a thigh bone in a infant when their bones are so soft. Scum bag needs locking up for a very long time.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

No way! What a complete deranged and mental poor excuse for a father, let alone, a human being. Put that loser in a freezer for 6 times the age of his kid. People like this loser shouldn't exist. Fired, to say the least.

Cruel.

And the Pope said people should have children instead of pets. Me thinks there should be more thought on this.

Agree one hundred percent.

I know exactly how you feel. My son is 6 and daughter 3, but it never gets easier hearing about these stories. It will always make your blood boil and ruin your day.
