Nara Prefectural Police have arrested a 43-year-old female company board official on suspicion of indecent behavior with a 17-year-old boy she met on a social networking site.
According to police, the unidentified suspect, who lives in Tokyo’s Minato Ward, was arrested on Monday for allegedly violating Nara Prefecture’s juvenile protection law, Fuji TV reported. The incidents occurred between Dec 30 and Jan 4 at a hotel in Nara City.
Police said the woman and the youth, who lives in Nara Prefecture, became acquaintances on Facebook in October. The case came to light when one of the the boy’s guardians consulted with police after he repeatedly stayed away for four days and said he was hanging out with a friend.
The suspect has denied the indecent behavior allegation by claiming she didn’t know the boy was under the age of 18.

I'm assuming the 17 year old couldn't keep his mouth shut? Millennials...........
If you're getting it, just shut it and enjoy it.

Well, many guys at 17 do dream of such an experience
TrevorPeace
I speak from experience when I say there's nothing indecent about a 17 year-old boy enjoying sex, as long as his partner is the same age, or older. Older women, especially in their 40s can be very sensual. But, that's only my experience. Probably the opposite of all those young Japanese males out there who are traumatized by the very idea of sex, regardless of whether they're 17 or 25.

Where is her name ?! If this was a man his name would have been revealed !!
Mark
She must be employed by a high profile company, and that's why her name is not published, Money Talks and BS walks.

At 17, I would have enjoyed a bit of pleasure of the flesh, even if with an older woman... How times have changed, no fun in Life anymore.
commanteer
I agree. 35 years is cool. But at 36, it becomes unimaginably grotesque and immoral.

Remember the Good Old Phrase, "Officer she told me she was 18". ?

Reasons to slap either of them on the wrist or worse:
Either of them is married.
Money was exchanged.
Either of them was coerced or harmed.
A relationship between the two would adversely affect their local community or even society at large.Reasons to let it slide:
There isn't a 17 year old boy on the planet who would vote in favor of the "Seishōnen Hogo Ikusei Jōrei" ordinance.
This is almost an irrelevent crime to highlight amongst all the other slimey stuff going on.joey stalin
She was lonely and the boy apparently enjoyed the experience. Where's the crime?

Some people here, myself included, need to think back carefully to how they were at 17.

I wonder what it could be you need any of their names for... Are you still 16 or already 44?...lol

Yes, there is a difference between the biological sexes. Like it or not.

It was a fun 4 days for him, I'm sure. Paid hotel and meals like he's never had, amazing "service" and probably some spending cash.

Ah, nothing like a titillating story of "forbidden passion" to bring out the 'lawyers' and the 'pastors' in our little clique of regulars here. The only reason this is even a 'story' is its 'Man bites Dog' quality. If the 'Guardians' (of the Phallacy?) had not intervened, we cannot imagine what horrors this young man may have faced being so badly taken advantage of by a knowledgeable, probably caring partner who taught him things he should not be allowed to know at his tender age...no? Ahhh....jeez...
Thomas Tank
I've *enjoyed the company of some suspiciously young girls before. Honestly, it's not all it's made out to be. I'd take a 25 y.o. any day over someone under 18.

At 43?? Good grief.
older woman!

I met an older lady who wanted me to be her boy toy. I was about 38 at the time. She was probably 65. She was loaded and wanted to spend it on me, but the thought have having sex with her again...

Lol, what's the harm? Remember Genji ;-]

@zichi - you'd be surprised what today's teenagers are doing... some even put Rabbits to shame. The hormonal explosion at that age in some is Nuclear, and Sex if it can be found is an alternative to Sport (if not in addition to...). The best action from Parents, is to engage, and encourage safe Sex, cautiousness over who with, and to continually monitor behavior to ensure they're not being taken advantage over.
Strangerland
But males at a young age are generally less fragile when it comes to sex.

My defense advise for this woman:
"I do not recall the incident"
"I was drunk"
"I could not control my urges due to stress from my job"
Seems to work in all other cases.

As she is one of the few women with that position in Japan, it's nearly giving her name.
Not by Japanese laws. It's not for that she was arrested. 17 is well over consent age, which is 13. She is not his teacher, boss, so a consensual relation can be legal. It's probably "mamakatsu". She paid him, and it's considered as underage prostitution.
The indecency possibly includes gambling, alcohol, drugs, pornography or that she made him enter fuzoku-rate hotels and clubs, as all that is forbidden under 18.

You never miss the waster till the well runs dry, young whippersnapper! Should've kept your mouth shut, laid back and enjoyed the ride!

Where is gender equality? I'm afraid that the suspect under ID protection may not even get charged or fined.

What is "acceptable" is in the eyes of society, and yes females mature quicker than males.
But yes, I am saying that sex is a completely different issue for the two biological genders. This is where where PC wishful thinking runs into reality.

Who said anything about sex?
She could have been introducing him to gambling :)

Did anyone mention that biological males can not get pregnant? Just wondering...
Strangerland
They can make pregnant.
coskuri
Neither is true in Japan. It's buying to an underage that is illegal. That's a huge nuance.
Strangerland
Neither is true in Japan.
The law states that coitus with a non-acquaintance is illegal. Being Asia, there are various loopholes to get around this illegality, but nevertheless, prostitution IS defined as being illegal in Japan. It's literally called the Anti-prostitution law (売春防止法): https://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E5%A3%B2%E6%98%A5%E9%98%B2%E6%AD%A2%E6%B3%95

Sex with minors will also against the law in every prefecture in the country, and will get you arrested. Again, there are sometimes loopholes, such as permission from the parents after a certain age, nevertheless, sex with minors IS defined as being illegal in Japan.

...and all these things can on the side of the younger person. Life varied and there all sorts of situations. What does not vary is that the sex drive and biology is very different in the XX and XY in our species.

Thanks for pointing that out. You are not saying that is the same as being pregnant?

What about a 17 year old boy having Sex with a 10 year old Girl ? Both are under age, or a 10 year old boy having sex with a 17 year old Girl... again both underage - the former seems a bit more questionable than the latter though, doesn't it ?
I think, that the Sex Laws need revising a total overhaul. Prostitution is common-place here in Japan, but discrete, even though as @zichi says, it's illegal... though should it remain so ?
Different people will have different views upon these matters, perhaps if they are Religious, have a Daughter, or whatever.... everyone should realize that Kids during the pubescent years will be very inventive towards bypassing those rules. So the key is, to not distant them from yourselves, and to engage them Positively, make them, want to come to you for help, rather than trying to avoid you at all costs....
I'd be interested to hear input from any Dutch people here, as apparently Holland has the most liberal view within the World these days....

*The case came to light when one of the the boy’s guardians consulted with police after he repeatedly stayed away for four days and said he was hanging out with a friend. *AT LEAST THE BOY DIDN'T LIE, he said he was with a friend. I would think this women provided more than the parents did, out side of physical pleasure. If you don't take care the needs of the person you are caring for they will become easy prey for someone who will promise them and give them what they are seeking. In other words men/women if you don't take care of one's needs they will go out and find someone who will.

The law is whatever it is. That does not mean it is perfect or we can not criticize it.
snowymountainhell
Understood. However,...
43 yrs with 17yrs, regardless of genders involved, is clearly ‘Statutory Rape’.
Disposition: a plea bargain in exchange for monies.
“Company Executive”- Company & name withheld until ‘settlements’ are made with the parties & the ‘system’.
Then, upfront payments of:
‘compensation’ for ‘emotional damages’;
necessary life counseling and rehabilitation for the victim;
victim’s loss of educational opportunities; and,
parents’/family’s/guardian’s loss of victim’s potential future earnings, etc*).Conclusion: Non-Prosecution (no reason stated) or, Suspended Sentence.

And jokes about "lucky him" aside, why is this woman, this ANIMAL!!! Why is she offered the convenience of privacy?

Go right on ahead and criticize it. Just be sure to have your arguments in order, and that they are reasonable and logical.
Look, older people have life experience to draw on, as well as the maturity that comes with age - meaning that it is not at all difficult for an older person to take advantage of and manipulate a younger person. Older people also have money, i.e., financial independence, as well as a much higher level of freedom than younger people. That means an older person can use their money as leverage, or have the ability to move in society in a way that younger people cannot. An older person is also more likely to be believed and taken seriously; a younger person doesn't have freedom of mobility and may not be able to leave the situation the way an older person can.
These are the reasons cited by psychologists that have been instrumental in getting laws passed that protect children and young people from sexual predation by older adults.
You can cite exceptions, as there always are exceptions; and this boy might himself be one of those exceptions. However, these facts remain.
girl_in_tokyo
I'm shocked by how many people are saying that there is nothing wrong with this situation. It should be treated in the same way regardless of gender - that's how the law has to work if we are to protect underage teens from sexual predation by older adults.
Exceptions cannot be made based on whether they enjoyed it, asked for it, or whether they felt mature enough or in control, or whether it did not harm them psychologically. Such exceptions would thrown the entire law into doubt and make it all the more difficult to prosecute cases where there was harm.
The fact remains that young people don't have the psychological maturity to handle sexual relationships where there is a power difference, and any older person who would ignore that fact is someone who is willing to take a chance on doing harm to a young person.
I believe that teens should have some measure of sexual independence, but it should be within their own age group.
And I can't believe it is me who has to point this out - how ironic - but not all woman are loving, caring sexual partners. Some women are cruel, dishonest, and manipulative, and would not obey the "campsite rule," i.e., to leave a partner better off than you found them. I'd think this would go without saying, but apparently stereotypes win out over common sense.

There is always a power difference between an older person and a younger one. Experience, maturity, money, independence ... all of these things matter.

I don't know why, but this disgusts me.

Millennial? 1994 was quite some time ago. There is no way a 17 year old today is a Millennial.
You might want to avoid othering language of other generations. It’s propaganda made to divide people.
Also, statutory rape is still rape. It’s exploitation of a minor.
CaptDingleheimer
Gross.
The only way this story could possibly be cool would be if the lady was 35 years old, max.
