Police in Toyota, Aichi Prefecture, have arrested a 43-year-old woman on vandalism charges after she was caught spraying telephone poles with graffiti.
The woman, identified as Akiko Hashimoto, a part-time employee of a children's daycare center, is suspected of being responsible for over 200 similar cases of vandalism over the past six years, NTV reported Wednesday.
According to police, Hashimoto was caught on Monday, spraying a telephone pole in Toyota. She was quoted by police as saying she had wanted to harass a particular woman and decided to write her name between 200 and 300 times.

She seems to have sound mental power so prosecutors should not waste time on psychiatric tests.

Just the kind of person I want taking care of my children. Can we all assume she'll get fired?
CrazyJoe
Make her clean graffiti as part of her sentencing.
paulinusa
She'll get ten years.
Tessa
I wonder what she sprayed. "For a good time, call - - - - - - -"

:O!!!! Tessa!!!!

Although it's not like she could possibly make the concrete sticks any less attractive than they used to be

It use to be that when a child is in trouble, you would tell them to go to the police or go tell a teacher. Nowadays, these very people are the perpetrators. Who can we trust with our children now?

No Tessa is probably right actually! Its all over the news here right now that a woman who was outbid in a house purchase was so gutted that she started cyber-harrassing the couple who won and she did exactly the same thing - gave the poor womans name and address and said "for a good time while my husband is at work please come to.." And apparently guys turned up too!

For graffito-tagging telephone poles? Here in America, you'd most likely get community service for that!

poor children, left in the care of such a horrible person... :(

Only half joking but graffiti and vandalism is serious stuff. Don't forget, this is Japan and doing something like this upsets the sense of order.

Wow! I guess I am lucky! When I first came to Tokyo I used chalk and paint to put arrows on telephone poles and streets so I could find my way back through the rabbit warren from the station back to my home.
However, in this case, I wonder if she had been emailing this other woman would she have been charged under the new stalking law?

Well, the woman whose name she painted should count herself lucky. When guys here want to harass a woman, they just stab her to death.

ebisen ,please , dont be so quick to judge.

She broke bad pretty late. 43?

Were these telephone poles or electric poles? Do the telephone companies have dedicated poles or do they use the power companies' poles?

This is quite easy to rectify 1: give here the cleaning gear to clean of the messages or 2: get it cleaned off and give her the bill. then on top, fine here.
