Police in Chiba City have arrested an unemployed 45-year-old man on suspicion of abandoning a corpse after he kept the body of his 71-year-old mother at their home since March
According to police, Kenji Shimajima lived with his mother who he said died of natural causes at their home in Inage Ward, Fuji TV reported Thursday. He went to a police station at around 1:40 a.m. on Wednesday and reported that the corpse of his mother was at their home.
Police went to the house and found the skeletonized remains of the woman in a second-floor room.
Shimajima was quoted by police as saying his mother became ill in late February but she didn’t want to be taken to a hospital. He told police he found her dead in early March but didn't know what to do.

Surely a dead body would absolutely stink after a while, even more so over summer. Did he just leave her on the 2nd floor with the airconditioner on and never went upstairs again?

As Norman Bates proved long ago, no one of sound mind lives with the corpse of their dead mother. Even lazy guys seeking to cash pension checks. This dude is no doubt off his nut and/or a long-time hikikomori. What's stunning is how neighbor's didn't notice the smell.

This will just become more and more common for the next few decades. Thousands of guys who haven’t worked, cleaned, cooked, done anything since their teens and twenties will just do nothing when their mother dies.
They haven’t helped with anything for years, so they won’t start when their mothers are sick or even die.
Violence against mothers too old to cook will also skyrocket.
Before everyone starts feeling sorry for these men, just remember they are perfectly capable of doing things they actually like doing like buying cigarettes, alcohol and porn.
In other countries theyd be kicked out. But a Japanese mother will look after a son till he dies.

Why is the same excuse used over & over "I didn't know what to do" Well let me tell you what to do.
Call the POLICE and they will make the arrangements for removing the body and than you make the arrangements for the funeral. So Simple. Hope this guy wasn't playing Touchy Feely with the corpse.
