Police in Yamato City, Kanagawa Prefecture, have arrested a 47-year-old man on suspicion of murder after he beat his physically disabled 73-year-old mother to death.
According to police, Masatoshi Tajima, a temp worker, has admitted to punching his mother Fumiko in the face and other parts of her body at their home in mid-December, Fuji TV reported. Fumiko's body was found on the evening of Jan 1 after Tajima called police at around 10:30 p.m. to report that his mother was dead.
Police said Fumiko, whose body was found on the living room floor, had bruises all over her body and face.
Tajima was quoted by police as saying he was worn out from looking after his mother, and that his mother never understood the stress he was under from having to take care of her all the time.
Tajima said his mother seemed to be OK until Jan 1 when she lost consciousness and died.© Japan Today
