47-year-old woman arrested for keeping deceased mother’s corpse at home

Police in Himeji, Hyogo Prefecture, have arrested a 47-year-old unemployed woman on suspicion of corpse abandonment after she kept her mother’s body at their home.

Police said Etsuko Setouji, who was arrested on Sunday, told them her mother died in January last year, Kyodo News reported.

The mummified body was kept in a room on the first floor of the house Setouji shared with her mother. It was discovered by a relative who had come over for a visit on Saturday.

Can’t imagine making that discovery, but I’ve no doubt she made the discovery knowing what she’d find, since this happens daily in Japan.

Last Janurary? The smell of a body stewing in its fluids once it starts to get warm then hot....Japan hot...while she is still living there must have been the worst smell. She could've reported ig the same day. And with her mother gone, she could've went to a staff service place to get a job. She was 46 at the time so its not old and many places would still hire her.
