Great news! Suicide bomber attack and he was the bomber and one of his mates the only ones who died!

Hope they make bullet proof and bomb proof cars over there.

Bet those guys want to be transferred back home asap.

A shame... Karachi is (was?) such a nice city... I got good memories when I was there, and Lahore too.

possible attacks on foreigners who are working in Pakistan on various Chinese-funded and other projects

targeted Chinese who are working in Pakistan on projects relating to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor,

I abhor violence, but it shouldn't surprise anyone that those involved in Chinese funded projects are targeted in a primarily Muslim nation, after all Muslims in China are being kept in 'detention centers'. Contrary to Chinese propaganda not all in the 'Global South' welcome Chinese involvement in their lands. Chinese money would be better served by making improvements within the borders of China.

Terribly unfortunate. The bombers must've thought they were Chinese, per previous attacks.

The attacks against Chinese interests are not just due to the Uighur genocide, but due to the fact that CPEC only benefits China, and Pakistani elites, not the local population.

Japanese workers/vehicles really need to display very visible Japanese flags to avoid being misconstrued as predatory Chinese companies.

Isabelle, these were Japanese working for Suzuki, Japanese are easy target, because Japan has no response as usual

@Yrral Isabelle is saying that they were mistaken for Chinese, and I think her assumption is correct. There is no reason for them to target Japanese.

Glad they got away safely. Time to perhaps rethink the location you're working at.

For the safety of the Japanese team . . . withdraw them from the country.

Avoid these third world countries where life is cheap. Demonic forces take hold of many through the guise of religion and events like this are the likely outcome.

What utter nonsense. No Muslim nation takes any head of the US led anti China bs about detention centres.

Demonic forces take hold of many through the guise of religion

How delightfully contradictory. "Demonic forces" are, by the very defintion of the term, spiritual. You cite spirituality to condemn spirituality.

OK, let's see what I remember from geography lessons and own knowledge on Pakistan; history, atomic armament and such issues omitted for shortness here. Drawing flak and thumbs down is of course priced in already. We have there not only the usual and long known no-go area, but additionally they have very strange and violent religious sects there and more widely known in that country they prefer a generally very strict if not even the world's strictest Quran interpretation and so on. While the average and mostly poorer population there doesn't have much of a choice, but going there intentionally as tourists or foreign workers? That's just only gambling all-in with own life, which is not even partly covered or insured by any offered high salary or enjoying any of the famous touristic attractions there. Consider writing your last will in an early stage, at best before boarding your plane to Islamabad.

Congratulations, they missed. I was in that situation once, but not nearly that close.
