An unemployed 50-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of stealing 220,000 yen in cash from a hotel in Tokyo’s Taito Ward.
According to police, Kazuhiko Matsushita visited the hotel in Negishi, pretending to be a guest in June. He then threatened a male hotel receptionist with a box cutter knife, demanded money and made off with 220,000 yen in cash.
Matsushita was in possession of 400,000 yen in cash at the time of his arrest and has since admitted to the charge, police said.

"robbing" is the more appropriate term in this case, rather than "stealing."

This is quite a serious incident and a nasty experience for hotel staff.

I presume that the male hotel receptionist who was robbed of 220,000 yen at knife-point will have bad days for a while. Hope he'll somehow pull himself together soon.
