A 50-year-old man has been arrested in Fukuyama City, Hiroshima Prefecture, on suspicion of abandoning the body of his 80-year-old bedridden mother at their home.
According to police, Yoshiyuki Yamaki, a temp worker from Fukuyama City, was arrested on Tuesday after he found his mother dead in her futon on Monday. He told police he hadn’t been home for about a week, Fuji TV reported.
Police said there were no visible signs of injury on the body and it appears the woman died of illness.
Despite his mother being bedridden for a long time, Yamaki had apparently neglected to take care of her since mid-November. For the past two weeks, he has been staying at an internet cafe, but he has denied abandoning her body.
A neighbor told local media: “I think the mother and son were living together for about three years.”

With all the taxes, it should be the state that abandoned her.

Omachi is rigjt. That's what you call "reckless disregard", in layman's terms he didn't give a crap what happened to her, it in the states anyway would be sufficient to charge him with murder
Omachi
If she was bedridden and he the caregiver and gone for a week - it should be murder.

Pathetic loser. Good luck buddy

Heartless. While overall crime in Nihon is low, there are amazingly bizarre and cruel crimes that occur within families.

So much for being a filial son.

I should elaborate, he didn't give a crap about her AND his actions directly resulted in her death.

This comment contradicts his stupid claim! He left her (abandoned her) for 2 weeks knowing that without his care, she would die.
Poor woman must've died calling out for her son's name. She died heartbroken, hungry, in pain and alone. That's so sad.
The judge should have him locked up in a padded room for 10 years with pictures of mother all over the room. Both alive and dead!
Do the hustle
And, the loser of the week award goes to this guy! Congratulations!
